The Vestia N°4 is a floorstanding model of Focal's Vestia series, which was shown at CES in January 2023 and comprises the N°1 standmount, the N°2, N°3 and N°4 towers and a centre channel. It is the only Vestia tower with woofers of this size, and UK pricing was GBP 2,599 per pair, while the American price is about USD 2,199 for each speaker.

Key specs that matter

Inside the ported three-way enclosure are a 25 mm TAM inverted dome tweeter of aluminium magnesium in an M shape, a 16.5 cm Slatefiber midrange and two 21 cm Slatefiber woofers. The crossover points are 280 Hz and 2,800 Hz. Response is quoted as 40 Hz to 30 kHz within 3 dB, extending to 34 Hz at -6 dB. Sensitivity is 92 dB, the nominal impedance is 8 ohm and the minimum dips to 2.6 ohm, with 40 to 350 W suggested as the amplifier range. The enclosure measures 1,126 mm high, 304 mm wide and 430 mm deep, and a single speaker weighs 31.5 kg.

Engineering and use context

Slatefiber is a sandwich of recycled, non-woven carbon fibres held in a thermoplastic polymer, used here for all three cones so the midrange and woofers share the same material. The M-shaped TAM dome adds stiffness through its folded profile compared with a plain inverted dome of the same alloy. With two large woofers handling the bass, the N°4 has slightly more bass cone area than the N°3, which uses three smaller woofers. The MDF cabinet is wrapped in a leather-like covering, and the front panel is offered in black or white, with the body in Black High Gloss or in Dark Wood or Light Wood effect. Two ports vent the bass, one on the front and one on the rear near the bottom of the enclosure, so the speaker does not rely on only one opening. A cast aluminium base tips the cabinet slightly backward for time alignment of the drivers and accepts four adjustable spikes or four rubber bumpers. Magnetic grilles cover the drivers, and the speaker is made in France.

Pairing

Its high sensitivity allows receivers and mid-power integrated amplifiers to drive the Vestia N°4 to high levels, but the minimum impedance is low for this class, so the amplifier must handle difficult loads without current limiting. The Vestia centre speaker can join a pair for a home cinema front stage.

Alternatives

The Focal Vestia N°3 is the slimmer tower in the same series, using smaller woofers and weighing 26.5 kg.
