The Diva Mezza Utopia is a three-way active wireless floorstanding loudspeaker from Focal, announced in July 2025 as a larger and more powerful sibling of the Diva Utopia that the company introduced a year earlier. It keeps the outline and styling of that model but moves to larger woofers and raises total amplifier output to 500 W per cabinet. The launch price was USD 69,000, GBP 55,000 or EUR 65,000 per pair, with shipments starting that July.
Key specs that matter
Every enclosure holds a 27 mm IAL2 tweeter with a pure beryllium dome in an inverted M profile, a 16.5 cm W midrange with TMD surround and NIC motor, and four 20.5 cm W woofers. A dedicated class AB amplifier drives each section - 280 W for the bass, 130 W for the midrange and 90 W for the tweeter. Focal lists a bandwidth of 25 Hz to 40 kHz at plus or minus 3 dB and a low-frequency point of 22 Hz at -6 dB, while the maximum level for a pair reaches 120 dB SPL at 1 m. The cabinet stands 127 cm high, 46 cm wide and 62 cm deep and weighs 90 kg. Focal rates it for spaces of up to 100 m2.
Engineering and use context
The four woofers are mounted on the sides in a push-push, force-cancelling layout, so the cabinet is not driven into motion by their reaction forces. Two separate power supplies are used, one for the bass amplifier and one shared by the midrange and tweeter channels. The primary unit carries HDMI eARC with CEC, TOSLINK optical, RCA analogue, USB 2.0 Type A and Ethernet, and the secondary speaker has only an RJ45 Speaker Link. Between the two, Ultra Wideband radio carries 24-bit 96 kHz audio, or 24-bit 192 kHz when the optional cable is fitted. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX Adaptive, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, UPnP and Spotify, TIDAL and Qobuz Connect are built in, and up to 32 Focal and Naim devices can be grouped. Files are accepted up to 24-bit 384 kHz as well as DSD64 and DSD128. A Zigbee handset, the Focal and Naim app, Siri, Google Assistant and Control4, Crestron, Savant or RTI systems provide control. Standard side panels are ivory felt, and black, dune and off white high gloss lacquer are offered.
Pairing
Only a source is needed, since amplification, conversion and streaming sit inside the speakers. A television connects over HDMI eARC, and the analogue and optical sockets take a CD player, a DAC-free transport or a phono preamplifier. Operating draw is 320 W per speaker, with network standby below 2 W.
Alternatives
