The Figaro XL2 tops the second-generation Figaro series from AudioSolutions, the Vilnius loudspeaker maker in Lithuania, and is the tallest and heaviest model in that line. It shares the family technology introduced when the original 2018 Figaro was redesigned in 2023, but multiplies the driver count, and among the Figaro towers only it and the XLm2 use a doubled midrange with four woofers. Design and production are carried out by the company in Lithuania.
Key specs that matter
Seven drivers make up a three-way system - a single 19 mm silk dome tweeter, two 15.2 cm midrange units and four 23.3 cm bass units, the mids and woofers all fitted with ER paper cones. The band is split at 400 Hz and 4,000 Hz. Quoted in-room response extends from 24 Hz to 25,000 Hz, and sensitivity is 92 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m. Like the XLm2, and unlike the 4 ohm S2, M2 and L2, it is rated at 8.0 ohm nominal. AudioSolutions gives a suggested amplifier range of 20 W to 900 W. Height is 1,918 mm, width 336 mm and depth 581 mm for the cabinet alone, and with outriggers the height grows to 1,948 mm and the width to 472 mm. One speaker weighs 115 kg, and the packed weight reaches 157 kg.
Engineering and use context
The crossover places both transitions outside the 1,000 to 2,000 Hz zone, since the maker holds that listeners notice the change between two drivers most readily there, so the pair of mids carries the whole band between the two points on its own. Extra Rigid paper, stiffened by hard pulp and tough fibres that show on the surface as flakes, is meant to let the cones move as pistons while keeping the self-damping of paper and avoiding the ringing typical of hard metal or ceramic diaphragms. Around the silk tweeter a shallow Mini-Horn applies acoustic resistance to the front of the dome, which grows as the level rises and restrains the flexing that silk shows under strong drive, while also lifting its output per watt. The Cabinet-In-a-Cabinet enclosure, derived from the Virtuoso line, pairs a light, stiff inner box with an inert, heavy outer box, and a polyurethane layer between them dissipates vibration. The WBT NextGen terminal panel allows bi-amping, a feature the brand reserves for the L and XL models. Seven Bespoke trim colours with brass accents and a matte surface are offered, along with a standard gloss version without metal trim.
Pairing
The easier nominal impedance and the wide suggested power window let the XL2 accept a broad span of amplifiers, while the bi-amp terminals make it possible to feed bass and the upper range from two different power stages.
Alternatives
The AudioSolutions Figaro XLm2 is the slimmer tower just below it, using four 18.3 cm woofers in a 1,710 mm tall, 95 kg cabinet rated at 28 Hz to 25,000 Hz.
