Fyne Audio makes the F703SP as a Special Production edition of the F703, built in the UK and first shown at the 2024 Bristol HiFi Show together with the F702SP. Fyne describes the pair as carrying engineering from its F1 Series into contemporary curved cabinets built and finished to F1 Series standards. The price is GBP 14,999.99 per pair in all finishes, which are Natural Walnut in satin veneer plus black, white and walnut piano gloss.

Key specs that matter

This is a 2.5-way speaker with two 250 mm drivers. The upper one is the IsoFlare point source unit from the F1-10S, with a multi-fibre cone, FyneFlute surround and a 75 mm titanium dome compression tweeter at its centre. The lower one is a multi-fibre bass cone with the same surround type. The crossover divides the signal at 250 Hz and 850 Hz with 2nd-order low-pass and 1st-order high-pass slopes. Fyne rates the range at 24 Hz to 26 kHz at -6 dB, typical in room, sensitivity at 94 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m and impedance at 8 ohm nominal. Continuous power handling is 125 W RMS with a 500 W peak. Each speaker is 1195 mm tall, 505 mm wide and 468 mm deep, and weighs 56.0 kg.

Engineering and use context

A massive neodymium magnet system drives the tweeter, and Fyne states that the conductive magnet reduces distortion by damping voice coil inductance losses. The cabinet is made of pressed high-density birch plywood, heavily braced inside, and uses twin cavity loading. Its port fires downward onto a Tractrix profile cone, the BassTrax system taken from the F1 Series, which radiates bass energy through 360 degrees. Under it sits an F1-grade machined aluminium sandwich plinth with M12 threaded support cones that are adjusted from above. The bi-wired low-loss crossover has a redesigned circuit layout with ClarityCap capacitors and Neotech PC-OCC wiring. After hand building and soldering, the whole crossover is deep cryogenically treated in the cryochamber at Fyne's Glasgow factory. Connection is through gold-plated WBT Nextgen 0703 terminals.

Pairing

The recommended amplifier range is 30 to 250 W RMS per channel. With doubled terminals, one can bi-wire or divide the load across two amplifiers, and the high sensitivity keeps the lower end of that range usable. Fyne calls the F702SP and F703SP its highest-performance UK-built SP models to date. With IsoFlare, high and mid frequencies radiate from a shared acoustic centre.
