Напольная акустика — Focal DIVA UTOPIA

The Diva Utopia is an active, wireless, network-connected floorstanding loudspeaker from Focal of Saint-Etienne, France, and the first such design the company has made. Presented in October 2024 after five years of development, it combines Focal drivers with electronics created by engineers from Naim, its sister brand. The US price is USD 39,999 per pair and the Canadian price is CAD 51,999.

Key specs that matter

Each cabinet carries six drivers in a three-way layout - a 27 mm IAL2 tweeter with an inverted M-shaped dome of pure beryllium, a 16.5 cm W sandwich-cone midrange, and four 16.5 cm woofers. Built-in class AB amplification supplies 250 W to the bass section and 75 W each to the midrange and tweeter, 400 W per speaker. Focal specifies 27 Hz to 40 kHz within 3 dB, with the -6 dB point at 24 Hz, and a peak level of 116 dB at 1 m for a pair. Each enclosure is 121 cm tall, 42 cm wide and 56 cm deep and weighs 64 kg. Typical consumption is 280 W, dropping below 2 W in networked standby and below 0.5 W otherwise.

Engineering and use context

Its four woofers operate in a push-push arrangement, so opposing drivers move in mirror fashion and their reaction forces on the cabinet largely cancel. The midrange uses a TMD surround and an NIC magnet system, and its W cone is a glass-foam-glass composite. Streaming is based on the Naim Pulse Platform, with Wi-Fi 6 and gigabit Ethernet, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX Adaptive, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz and internet radio. WAV, FLAC, AIFF and ALAC files play up to 24 bit and 384 kHz, DSD64 and DSD128 are also accepted. All inputs sit on the primary speaker, which feeds the secondary one over a wireless link at up to 24 bit and 96 kHz, or at up to 24 bit and 192 kHz through a CAT6e cable connected to the RJ45 Speaker Link port. Removable side panels are covered in OEKO-TEX certified felt as standard, with high gloss lacquer in black, dune or off white offered instead. Control comes through the Focal and Naim app, the supplied remote handset or Google Assistant and Siri voice commands.

Pairing

No external amplifier or streamer is needed. The HDMI eARC port with CEC takes audio from a television and lets its remote set the volume, while the optical and RCA analogue inputs accept a CD transport, a turntable through a phono stage or another line source. A USB Type A socket reads music from a storage drive, and the mains input covers both 100 to 120 V and 220 to 240 V supplies.
