Полочная акустика — Fyne Audio VINTAGE FIVE

The Vintage Five is the compact bookshelf model of the Fyne Audio Vintage Series, a range that pairs traditional cabinet finery with engineering by Dr Paul Mills. Its handmade enclosure is kept small for easy integration into small and medium spaces, while carrying the same technical features as the larger Vintage Ten, Vintage Twelve and Vintage Fifteen. A pair costs GBP 3,999.98 in the UK.

Key specs that matter

It is a 2-way design built around one 125 mm IsoFlare point source driver. Its multi-fibre mid and bass cone, terminated by a FyneFlute roll surround, surrounds a 19 mm magnesium dome compression tweeter in the middle, and both use a neodymium magnet system. The crossover frequency is 1.9 kHz. Fyne Audio quotes 46 Hz to 38 kHz at -6 dB typical in room, sensitivity of 87 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m and a nominal impedance of 8 ohm. It is rated for 50 W RMS continuous and 200 W peak input, with 30 to 100 W RMS amplification advised. Each cabinet measures 350 x 219 x 260 mm (HxWxD) and weighs 6.2 kg net.

Engineering and use context

Pressed high-density birch ply forms the walnut-finished enclosure. Bass output is routed through a BassTrax port that fires downward onto a Tractrix diffuser, rather than through a front or rear opening. Its single-wired passive crossover combines 2nd order low-pass and 1st order high-pass filtering, is hand built and Deep Cryogenically Treated. An adjustment dial with a handmade knob changes the 2.5 kHz to 5.0 kHz region by plus or minus 3 dB. The series cabinets use a bespoke twin-cavity layout, and their panels are contoured into variable radius curves to stop standing waves. The walnut veneer is hand finished and trimmed with burr walnut inlays plus gold-anodised metal parts. The Vintage IsoFlare drivers sit on a rigid cast aluminium chassis, bonded to a dedicated cabinet brace with Fyne Audio's own coupling compound. The Tractrix diffuser converts the plane-wave port output into a 360 degree spherical wavefront. The listed dimensions include grille, terminals and plinth but exclude feet.

Pairing

The speaker has one terminal pair and no bi-wire option. Fyne Audio gives an S-Trax position of 53 mm from the cabinet front edge for its matching supertweeter.
