The Cubitt 5 is the first fully active speaker pair from Fyne Audio, the Scottish company that builds its passive ranges around the IsoFlare point source driver. It went on sale in June 2026 and reached North America in August 2026, and Fyne lists it at GBP 549.98 per pair in the UK. The system splits into a primary unit that holds the electronics and inputs and a secondary unit fed from it over a wired speaker-level link, so only one box needs mains power for the signal chain to work.

Key specs that matter

Both enclosures use one 5-inch IsoFlare driver with a FyneFlute surround and a 19 mm titanium dome tweeter mounted concentrically at its centre, giving a time-aligned point source. Total amplification is rated at 240 W maximum, with a DSP active crossover in place of passive filter parts. Fyne quotes 43 Hz to 34 kHz at -6 dB, typical in room, and a maximum resolution of 24 bit and 96 kHz. The primary box measures 260 x 165 x 215 mm and weighs 4.2 kg, while the secondary is 223 mm deep and weighs 3.6 kg. Five colours are offered - Arctic White, Midnight Black, Olive Green, Pearl Titanium and Pebble Grey.

Engineering and use context

Because the crossover sits in the digital domain and dedicated class D channels drive each unit, Fyne could tune the electronics and drivers as one system. Inputs cover Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD and AAC, HDMI ARC for a television, optical digital, an analogue RCA line and a phono stage that accepts MM or high output MC cartridges. All functions are handled by a small remote that docks on the rear of one speaker, and Fyne states that no app, account or setup screen is required. The cabinets use high-density panels with internal bracing, and the bass port fires forward, which lets the boxes sit close to a rear wall or on a shelf in a home office or small living space.

Pairing

With amplifiers, DSP and a DAC inside the primary box, the Cubitt 5 asks for nothing beyond a signal source. A turntable can plug straight into the phono input, a TV connects through HDMI ARC in place of a soundbar, and a CD player, streamer or games console can use the optical or RCA sockets. Owners who want deeper bass extension can connect a powered subwoofer through the dedicated sub socket on the primary unit.
