The F701SP is the standmount model of the F700SP series, an SP reworking of the F700 range from Fyne Audio that also contains the F702SP, F703SP and F704SP floorstanders. It reuses the F701 cabinet and borrows parts and ideas from the F1 and Vintage lines. Assembly is done by hand in the UK, with a listed price of GBP 6,499.99 per pair including VAT across four finishes - gloss-lacquered walnut, black or white, plus a Natural Walnut option new to the SP series.

Key specs that matter

The acoustic heart is a 200 mm IsoFlare point source driver taken from the F1-8, whose multi-fibre cone rides on FyneFlute roll edging around a central 25 mm compression tweeter that pairs a magnesium diaphragm with a ferrite motor. The handover happens at 1.8 kHz. Rated sensitivity is 90 dB with 2.83 V at 1 m, nominal impedance is 8 ohm, and Fyne gives 35 Hz to 34 kHz at -6 dB, typical in room. Recommended amplifier power spans 30 to 180 W RMS, while handling is 90 W RMS continuous and 360 W peak. The enclosure is 465 mm tall, 278 mm wide and 393 mm deep.

Engineering and use context

A refined high-frequency waveguide was added to the compression tweeter to smooth its response. Fyne reworked the passive network using computational modelling and long listening sessions, and it is a bi-wired low-loss type with second-order filtering on the bass section and first-order filtering on the tweeter. Parts include Claritycap capacitors and Neotech PC-OCC internal wiring, and the input panel carries gold-plated WBT Nextgen 0703 terminals together with a separate grounding post meant to reduce RF interference. After assembly the crossover goes through Deep Cryogenic Treatment. The cabinet itself is high-density birch plywood with curved panels and a twin-cavity tuning system. Its port fires down into a BassTrax Tractrix diffuser mounted on a black metal plinth of F1-grade aluminium, which stands on M12 threaded cones that allow levelling, and black anodised aluminium trims set this version apart visually from the older F701.

Pairing

Its sensitivity and nominal load make the F701SP relatively easy to drive, and the wide power recommendation covers most integrated and pre-power combinations. Fyne targets mid-sized to large rooms, and at 14 kg per box the speaker needs solid, stable stands rather than a shelf.

Fyne Audio also offers the smaller F700, a bookshelf model with a 150 mm IsoFlare driver and 89 dB sensitivity.
