The RUBIKORE 2 is the two-way box for stands within the RUBIKORE series from DALI of Norager, Denmark. The range was unveiled at the High End show in Munich in May 2024 with five models - the RUBIKORE 8 and RUBIKORE 6 towers, this bookshelf speaker, an on-wall unit and the RUBIKORE CINEMA centre channel. Launch prices were GBP 2,299 per pair in the UK and USD 3,000 per pair in North America, and DALI states that the cabinets are handcrafted and assembled at its own Danish production facilities.

Key specs that matter

A 29 mm soft dome tweeter works above a single 6.5 inch mid and bass driver, with the handover set at 2,800 Hz. DALI quotes a frequency range of 50 Hz to 26,000 Hz within 3 dB and a sensitivity of 87 dB measured with 2.83 V at 1 m. Nominal impedance is 4 ohm, maximum output reaches 107 dB at 1 m, and the suggested amplifier band runs from 40 to 150 W. Each cabinet is 350 mm tall, 195 mm wide and 335 mm deep, with a weight of 9.5 kg. Finish options are high gloss white, high gloss black, high gloss maroon and natural walnut.

Engineering and use context

The mid and bass cone is a blend of paper and wood fibre with five indentations that make its surface asymmetric, a method DALI uses to break up resonance in the diaphragm. Its motor uses a double magnet arrangement with Soft Magnetic Composite in the pole structure, the SMC material introduced in the brand's higher lines to lower distortion from eddy currents. The new dome tweeter runs without ferrofluid in its gap, and DALI describes it as a low-loss design. A Continuous-Flare reflex port, tuned to 44 Hz, vents the enclosure, and internal bracing stiffens the panels. Crossover parts come from Mundorf, while the SMC inductors of the KORE and EPIKORE models are not used here. The cloth grille is held on by physical lugs rather than magnets.

Pairing

Rear terminals accept bare wire, spade lugs or banana plugs and are arranged for bi-wiring or bi-amping. The low impedance and moderate efficiency point toward a solid-state integrated amplifier or separates that stay stable into lower impedances, with power toward the middle of the recommended window. The compact cabinet lets the pair sit on stands in a room of around 20 m2, and the same mid and bass driver type is shared with the floorstanding models of the series, and the RUBIKORE CINEMA can extend a stereo pair to a multichannel layout.

The DALI EPIKORE 3 is a higher-priced bookshelf model with a hybrid dome and planar tweeter module and a 7 inch driver.
