The SONIK 1 is the smaller of two standmount models in DALI's SONIK family from Denmark, seven speakers in total that replace the OBERON models, with worldwide availability from 2 February 2026. Pricing is EUR 498, GBP 449, USD 900 or AUD 849 per pair. Vinyl finishes come in White, Natural Oak, Walnut or Black Ash, and DALI lists it for shelf, stand or wall placement in small rooms. The series comprises two standmounts, three floorstanders, an on-wall model and a horizontal SONIK CINEMA centre, all sharing the same tweeter.

Key specs that matter

The design is two-way, combining a 29 mm low-loss soft dome tweeter with a 5.25 inch woofer, divided at 2,800 Hz. The frequency range is 51 Hz to 26,000 Hz within 3 dB, sensitivity is 86 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m and nominal impedance is 6 ohm. Maximum output reaches 106 dB at 1 m, and DALI recommends 25 to 100 W of amplifier power. Its enclosure stands 274 mm tall, 162 mm wide and 231 mm deep, and each speaker weighs 4.1 kg.

Engineering and use context

Its woofer carries a DALI Clarity Cone blending wood fibre with paper, a proprietary construction DALI employs to cut unwanted cone colouring of the signal. Its motor is the SMC Essential magnet system, which combines iron and Soft Magnetic Compound in its pole-piece intended to lower third-order distortion. The tweeter is newly developed for the series, with a low-mass, low-loss dome and an aluminium faceplate that DALI says improves bandwidth and thermal behaviour. The MDF panels are CNC-machined and the box has rigid internal bracing, loaded by a rear Dual-Flare reflex port tuned to 51 Hz to limit turbulence. Connection is through custom single-wire terminals, and the grille is removable and held by magnets.

Pairing

The SONIK 1 presents an easy match for a compact integrated or streaming amplifier whose output falls inside DALI's suggested range. The range also offers SONIK ON-WALL and SONIK CINEMA models finished to match, allowing the pair to become the front of a multichannel system. The ON-WALL version uses the same Clarity Cone woofer in a 385 x 245 x 123 mm enclosure for placement 0 to 10 cm from a wall, and the CINEMA centre has two such woofers in a horizontal cabinet.

Alternatives

The DALI SONIK 3 is the larger standmount in the series, with a 7 inch Clarity Cone woofer, 87 dB sensitivity and a 350 x 200 x 306 mm cabinet weighing 6.5 kg.
