The KUPID is a small two-way standmount speaker made by the Danish company DALI, presented by the company as a hi-fi speaker for everyone. It went on sale on 1 October 2025 at GBP 299 or EUR 338 per pair, with a US price of USD 600 per pair. Five vinyl finishes are offered - Black Ash, Walnut, Caramel White, Golden Yellow and Chilly Blue - and the cabinet has rounded edges. The grilles are textured fabric in matching tones, and the KUPID can be used in a stereo system or at the front of a small home cinema.
Key specs that matter
Two drivers, a 4.5 inch mid-bass cone and a 26 mm soft dome, divide the band at 2,100 Hz. DALI rates the range at 63 Hz to 25,000 Hz within 3 dB, with sensitivity of 83 dB for 2.83 V at 1 m and a nominal impedance of 4 ohm. Maximum output is given as 103 dB, and the recommended amplifier power is 40 to 120 W. Each cabinet measures 237 x 140 x 195 mm (height, width, depth) and weighs 2.9 kg with its grille, and the boxed pair has a shipping weight of 7.5 kg. Single speakers are sold in Europe at EUR 169 each.
Engineering and use context
The mid-bass cone is a proprietary blend of paper and wood fibre, powered by a ferrite magnet and suspended on a rubber surround of low loss. The tweeter diaphragm is an ultra-light soft woven fabric. Both drivers run through custom crossovers that DALI designed for timing accuracy and a soft roll-off. Reflex loading is tuned to 53 Hz, and its dual flare port is shaped to smooth airflow and cut unwanted resonances. Textured grilles attach magnetically. The box includes two wall brackets with four screws, eight rubber feet and two front grilles, so the speakers can go on stands, shelves or walls, and DALI lists a distance from the rear wall of 2.5 to 60 cm.
Pairing
With a low nominal impedance and a modest sensitivity figure, the KUPID calls for an amplifier that handles 4-ohm-class loads, with output inside the window DALI recommends. That combination points to a solid-state integrated amplifier or streaming amplifier instead of a valve amplifier with little output. The included rubber feet decouple the base from the shelf or furniture it stands on.
Alternatives
The DALI SONIK 1 is a bigger standmount from the new SONIK series, fitted with a 5.25 inch Clarity Cone woofer, a 29 mm tweeter and 86 dB sensitivity into 6 ohm.
