The LN01A is the powered version of the compact LN01 two-way stand-mount from Triangle, the French loudspeaker maker, and belongs to the Elara family within its Active Series. The pair is sold as a master and a slave unit - the right cabinet holds the amplifier, the power supply and every input, and the left cabinet is passive. A single mains lead powers the system, and Triangle lists the pair at USD 499.

Key specs that matter

Each cabinet carries a 25 mm EFS silk dome tweeter and a 13 cm midwoofer with a treated paper cone, crossed over at 1.8 kHz. The quoted bandwidth is 56 Hz to 22 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB, sensitivity is listed at 89 dB/W/m and the nominal impedance of the drivers is 4.5 to 8 ohm. The built-in Class D stage delivers 2 x 50 W RMS. Every enclosure measures 165 mm wide, 291 mm high and 225 mm deep. The master speaker weighs 5.4 kg and the slave 4.4 kg, with a gross shipping weight of 11.2 kg for the pair. Engineering and use context

Putting all electronics in one enclosure means the passive cabinet needs only a speaker lead, and Triangle supplies a 3 m cable to link the two, so the spacing between the boxes is set by that length. The input panel on the master unit covers Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, SBC and AAC codecs, an optical digital input, a coaxial digital input, a 3.5 mm mini-jack and a pair of RCA sockets. The RCA input has a switchable phono preamplifier, so a record deck can be plugged in directly without a separate phono stage. Both cabinets use a bass reflex port on the back panel, and the passive LN01 of the same range shares the outward look of the pair. Triangle includes a remote handset for choosing inputs and adjusting volume.

Pairing

Because amplification and conversion are built in, the LN01A only needs a source - a turntable, a CD transport over coaxial or optical, a television over optical, a computer or a phone over Bluetooth. The subwoofer output on the master cabinet makes room for a separate powered bass unit working below the natural limit of the small driver, for owners who want deeper extension in a larger space. Stands or a sturdy shelf at ear height complete the setup.
