The Evoke 20 is the larger of two standmount models in the Evoke series from the Danish company Dynaudio, which debuted the range at Munich High End in 2018 and launched it in December that year. Dynaudio calls it a full-size stand-mounted speaker meant for almost any size of space. UK pricing at launch was GBP 1,800 per pair, and the rest of the family comprises the Evoke 10 standmount, the Evoke 30 and 50 floorstanders and the Evoke 25C centre channel.

Key specs that matter

A 28 mm Cerotar tweeter is paired with an 18 cm long-throw Esotec+ woofer and the two-way enclosure is tuned by a rear-facing reflex port. Sensitivity is 86 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, nominal impedance sits at 6 ohm, and Dynaudio gives 180 W as the IEC long-term figure. Response runs from 40 Hz to 23 kHz within 3 dB, and the second-order crossover hands over at 3,200 Hz. Each cabinet measures 215 x 380 x 307 mm and weighs 9.9 kg, while a pair ships in one box weighing 23.7 kg. Gloss black and gloss white lacquers are joined by open-veneered walnut and blonde wood options.

Engineering and use context

Made from 0.4 mm MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer), the woofer cone is driven by a 52 mm aluminium voice coil and a strontium carbonate Ferrite+ ceramic magnet system. An aramid fibre spider holds the moving parts centred, and a one-piece surround taken from the Contour line allows a longer throw ratio for higher output. Dynaudio says the woofer technology was borrowed from both Contour and Confidence. The Cerotar tweeter is an original Dynaudio design with a precision-coated soft dome; the Hexis insert beneath it is a second, inner dome that shapes the air flow behind the diaphragm to flatten the response, and its motor also relies on Ferrite+ ceramic magnets. The cabinet is tapered and rounded, and the screws that fix the drivers are hidden from view on the front. The crossover is built with selected high-grade parts, and every driver was optimised in the Jupiter measurement lab.

Pairing

As a moderate load, the Evoke 20 suits most stereo integrated amplifiers and pre/power combinations, with its power handling leaving room for powerful designs. Floor stands are the intended support for a model of this size, and the rear port needs open air behind the cabinet.

Alternatives

The Dynaudio Evoke 10 is the smaller standmount in the range, using a 14 cm woofer in a 6.7 kg cabinet with 84 dB sensitivity.
