The Legend is a small Dynaudio two-way bookshelf speaker, designed and built in Skanderborg, Denmark, where it is assembled by hand at the company headquarters. Its styling takes cues from earlier Dynaudio models - the Compound, the Micron and the Consequence - with particular attention to the corner detailing. The speaker made its public debut at AXPONA 2026 in Chicago, and Dynaudio describes it as an unlimited limited edition, since the veneer makes every pair look different.

Key specs that matter

Dynaudio fits a 28 mm Esotar 3 soft dome tweeter with Hexis plus one 15 cm mid/bass unit with a cone of MSP, or magnesium silicate polymer. They cross over at 3,500 Hz with a second-order network. Dynaudio rates sensitivity at 83 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, nominal impedance at 6 ohm and IEC long term power handling at 150 W. Quoted frequency response runs from 60 Hz to 28 kHz. A dual-flared reflex port exits through the back of the box. Every cabinet is 186 mm wide, 311 mm high and 271 mm deep, and weighs 6.3 kg.

Engineering and use context

Dynaudio lists the Legend as a current model forming its own Legend series. Natural rosewood is the only finish. The veneer panels for each pair are selected and matched by eye, and the cabinet corners are made of Jatoba hardwood chosen to match the colour tone of the rosewood. Two coats of matt lacquer are applied - the first raises the grain so it can be sanded, and the second deepens and seals the surface. Connection is through WBT NextGen terminals, and the high-grade crossover components come from European suppliers. The Hexis part of the tweeter is an inner dome mounted behind the main dome that Dynaudio uses to suppress resonances and smooth the frequency response. The MSP cone material is produced by Dynaudio itself. Dynaudio positions the Legend as a product for long-term ownership rather than one that follows trends, and product manager Otto Jorgensen presented it online on April 16.

Pairing

With its low sensitivity, the Legend is not an especially easy load. It asks for amplification with real power in hand and solid current delivery instead of a weak valve unit, and the handling figure leaves room for a fairly powerful unit.

Alternatives

Dynaudio also offers the Contour 20i stand-mount, a two-way model with an 18 cm MSP woofer and an Esotar 2i tweeter rated at 86 dB and 4 ohm.
