The Emit 10 is the smallest model in the Emit range from Dynaudio, the Danish maker based in Skanderborg, and was the most compact domestic hi-fi speaker in the catalogue when the range was renewed in 2021. It launched in the UK at GBP 630 per pair. The design borrows its drivers from the costlier Evoke series and places them in a small two-way reflex cabinet intended for shelves or stands.

Key specs that matter

A 28 mm Cerotar soft dome tweeter works with a 14 cm mid/bass unit using an MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cone. Sensitivity is 86 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, the load is rated at 6 ohm, and the speaker accepts 150 W on the IEC long-term test. Response is 64 Hz to 25 kHz within 3 dB and 52 Hz to 35 kHz within 6 dB. The crossover sits at 3,700 Hz, using first-order filtering for the tweeter and second-order filtering for the woofer. Each speaker is 170 mm wide, 290 mm tall and 272 mm deep and weighs 6.4 kg, and a boxed pair weighs 15.4 kg.

Engineering and use context

Derived from the Esotec+ unit in Evoke and also shared with the Emit 30 floorstander, the mid/bass driver uses a 38 mm voice coil wound with copper-clad aluminium wire, chosen to balance low mass with conductivity, and a double magnet system of stacked strontium carbonate Ferrite+ ceramic magnets that Dynaudio says gives better control of cone movement and higher sensitivity. The dust cap has a rib structure bonded directly to the voice coil so the coil drives the diaphragm with a stiff joint. In the Cerotar tweeter, the Hexis part is a dimpled inner dome placed behind the diaphragm to guide airflow and suppress resonances. Rather than reusing one generic crossover, Dynaudio tailored the filter topology to these two drivers. At the back, a double-flared reflex port with damping material cut to tight tolerances is shaped to reduce turbulence and chuffing. The cabinet is 18 mm MDF with a laminate surface in Black, White or Walnut, and a magnetic grille covers the baffle.

Pairing

With its moderate impedance and sensitivity, the Emit 10 is an easy load for a conventional stereo integrated amplifier or a network amplifier with speaker outputs, and its power handling leaves headroom for larger amplifiers. As the Emit 10 vents to the rear, a closed shelf that blocks the rear panel is a poorer placement than an open stand.
