Полочная акустика — Triangle BR03 CONNECT

The BR03 Connect is the powered version of the BR03 bookshelf speaker in the Borea series from French maker Triangle. One cabinet contains the amplifier, converter and input board, and it drives a passive partner, so the pair forms a complete stereo system for a turntable, a television and streamed music. The UK launch price was GBP 649, and Triangle currently lists the pair at USD 750.

Key specs that matter

In both cabinets a 25 mm silk dome tweeter with an EFS waveguide works above a 16 cm mid-woofer whose cone is made from natural cellulose pulp, and the nominal impedance is 8 ohm. A Class D amplifier supplies 2 x 60 W RMS into 8 ohm, total power handling is rated at 200 W, and the response is specified as 47 Hz to 22 kHz within 3 dB. Each cabinet measures 206 mm wide, 360 mm high and 314 mm deep, with the master speaker weighing 7.3 kg and the passive one 6.6 kg - the 0.7 kg difference is the electronics carried in the active box. Inputs are HDMI ARC, USB-B for a computer, optical, coaxial, RCA with a 3.5 mm jack alternative and a phono socket, and a mono RCA sub out is fitted. The USB path handles 32-bit/384 kHz PCM and native DSD256 through an ESS 9018K2M converter.

Engineering and use context

Bluetooth 5.0 supports SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX LL and aptX HD, the last at 24-bit/48 kHz. The HDMI connection supports ARC and CEC for use with a television, while the built-in phono stage removes the need for an outboard preamplifier when a record deck with an MM cartridge is used. The box contains a 3 m speaker cable to link master and passive cabinets, magnetic fabric grilles, rubber pads and a mains cable. The RF remote works up to 15 m away and includes tone controls and a bass boost function that is engaged by default at power-on. Triangle offers the pair in Green, Burgundy, Blue, Black, Cream, Light Oak and Oak finishes and suggests rooms of 10 to 35 m2.

Pairing

The television link and the optical socket make the pair a direct upgrade over television speakers, and the subwoofer output allows an active sub to be added for film soundtracks or larger spaces. A laptop connected over USB-B can play high-resolution and DSD files without an external DAC, and the master speaker holds every control, so the passive unit needs no mains socket nearby.

Alternatives

The Triangle AIO Twin is a smaller powered bookshelf pair from the same brand, with 13 cm mid-woofers, 2 x 50 W amplification and built-in Wi-Fi streaming with multiroom support.
