HECO's BellaDonna is a bass reflex two-way bookshelf speaker, presented by the German company as an audiophile high-end design and announced in October 2023. HECO offers a dedicated BellaDonna stand measuring 310 mm across, 640 mm high and 475 mm deep. The cabinet front is finished in matt silver, with real cherry veneer on the sides.

Key specs that matter

A 200 mm woofer with a kraft paper cone works with a 30 mm silk compound dome tweeter, crossing over at 2,600 Hz, and the rated range runs from 28 Hz to 52,000 Hz. Sensitivity is 91 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, and the impedance is 4 to 8 ohm. Power handling is rated at 150 W RMS and 250 W peak, with a recommended amplifier range of 30 to 250 W. Each cabinet is 276 mm wide, 450 mm tall and 462 mm deep.

Engineering and use context

A cast aluminium basket holds the woofer, which has a rubber surround, a symmetrical magnet system with internal suspension, and a POC phase optimisation dust cap. Its voice coil has a 32 mm diameter and is wound with copper-clad aluminium wire. A strong double magnet drives the tweeter, mounted behind a massive aluminium front plate with Fluktus geometry. Both low-pass and high-pass filters use 18 dB per octave slopes, the network is phase-optimised and built with custom-made film capacitors, and a switch sets the treble either linear or raised by 2 dB. The MDF cabinet has walls up to 25 mm thick and internal struts to damp resonance, and the reflex port is flow-optimised. Internal wiring is made of low-oxygen copper. The solid metal terminal panel carries five gold-plated screw terminals, the upper ones feeding the crossover and the lower ones the bass section, with cable bridges for single wiring, and the terminals take conductors of up to 10 mm2. Metal spikes come in the box, the grille holds by magnets, and HECO covers the original owner for five years.

Pairing

Removing the bridges enables bi-wiring or bi-amping, with the woofer and tweeter each fed from its own amplifier channel. With the bridges left in place, a single pair of speaker cables serves both sections.
