The Aurora 300 is a compact bookshelf loudspeaker from HECO, a German manufacturer, built with the identical 170mm woofer found in the brand's considerably larger Aurora 700 floorstander, housed in a somewhat smaller but equally sturdy cabinet. Part of HECO's popular Aurora series - named after both the Roman goddess of dawn and the polar aurora phenomenon - the Aurora 300 combines uncompromising sound properties with a stylish design that blends modern wood decor with a high-quality silk-matte lacquer finish.

The 170mm woofer-midrange uses a light long-fibre kraft paper membrane with a flat long-fibre dust cap, long-throw surround and high-performance voice coil, optimised specifically for low-distortion signal transmission and delivering both powerful bass and a distinctive midrange. The newly developed Fluktus tweeter uses a 28mm silk-compound dome with ferrofluid cooling, a powerful ferrite double-magnet system and computer-optimised multi-corrugated front-panel geometry for flawless dispersion characteristics through the upper frequency range. Sensitivity is rated at 90dB (2.83V/1m), though independent measurement found a slightly lower 88.2dB - still a respectable, easy-to-drive figure. Nominal impedance ranges 4-8 ohms, with the crossover set at 3,300Hz. Power handling is rated at 80W RMS/150W maximum, with a recommended amplifier output of 20-150W. Frequency response spans a wide 32Hz to 42,500Hz. At 195 x 357 x 315mm (333mm including terminal and feet) and 7.5kg per speaker, the acoustic fabric grille attaches invisibly to the baffle via magnets, keeping nothing to tarnish the cabinet's overall visual appearance. Available in Ebony Black or Ivory White silk-matte lacquer finish combined with modern wood-decor side panels.
