Moondrop calls the EDGE a portable wireless headphone with active noise cancellation, and it sits in the brand's headphone catalogue next to planar and wired full-size models such as the PARA, COSMO and JOKER. The list price was USD 89.99, and the headphone came in grey, white and green. Its tuning follows the VDSF target curve that Moondrop uses across its in-ear and wireless products.

Key specs that matter

Moondrop fits a large 40 mm low-distortion dynamic driver in each cup, with a composite diaphragm with a beryllium-plated dome and a flexible surround. The Bluetooth 5.4 radio supports SBC, AAC and LDAC, and handles A2DP, AVRCP, HFP and HSP connections, while a large onboard antenna gives a working distance of more than 10 m without obstructions. Battery life is about 48 hours with noise cancellation off and close to 30 hours with it on. Five minutes on the charger give about 4 hours of listening, and a full charge through the USB-C port takes about 1.5 hours.

Engineering and use context

The noise cancelling system is a hybrid design with feed-forward and feedback stages, fed by four high-sensitivity microphones, and Moondrop states that it recalibrated the circuit for wide-band attenuation. A pass-through mode lets outside sound in when needed. Calls rely on a separate dual-microphone beamforming algorithm for environmental noise reduction. The earcups turn on an aluminium alloy shaft, swivel 90 degrees and fold on hinges into the headband, and a soft carry bag is included for travel. Contoured pads are filled with inert memory foam, and the top of the headband carries a grippy fabric cover. All buttons are on the right cup - power, volume up and down and a noise cancelling key - alongside LEDs for battery and connection status. In the MOONDROP Link app owners can switch between five tuning presets, choose among three gain settings, adjust the noise cancelling and load profiles from an online EQ hub.

Pairing

A source with LDAC gets the highest bit rate link the EDGE supports, and devices limited to AAC or SBC fall back to those codecs. Dual device connection keeps a phone and a laptop linked at the same time, so switching from a video call to music playback needs no re-pairing. The package also contains the charging cable, a user manual, a certificate, an after-sales card and a card with the QR code for the app.
