The ROBIN is a true wireless in-ear earphone that Moondrop built in collaboration with the game Honkai Star Rail, sold as model MD-TWS-040 at USD 89.99. Its shells are produced by HeyGears high-precision 3D printing in medical-grade resin and follow the ergonomic shape of a stage monitor, finished in an iridescent paint that changes colour with the viewing angle. Production has since ended, and the last batch was offered as remaining stock.
Key specs that matter
Each earpiece combines a 10 mm dynamic driver with a tin ceramic dome diaphragm and a 6 mm annular planar treble driver. The Bluetooth 5.4 link supports the A2DP, AVRCP, HFP and HSP profiles plus the codecs SBC, AAC, LDAC and LC3, with a working distance of 10 m in open space. Each earpiece holds a 3.7 V 40 mAh cell good for about 9 hours with AAC, while the 470 mAh case adds about 30 hours. Charging takes about 2 hours for the earpieces and about 2.5 hours for the case, through USB-C or on a wireless charging pad.
Engineering and use context
Pairing a dynamic unit for the low range with a small planar driver for the top gives the ROBIN a two-driver hybrid layout inside a compact wireless shell, with each driver type given its own part of the range. Noise reduction combines the passive seal of the in-ear fit with active cancellation in what Moondrop calls a wide-band PNC plus ANC hybrid. An ambient mode lets outside sound in and can be customised in the app. For calls, dual microphones use beamforming and ENC processing to separate voice from background noise. Support for Bluetooth LE Audio and the LC3 codec targets low delay with high-definition transmission on sources that implement it. Voice prompts come in one fixed language per version, Korean or English, and cannot be changed afterwards. The box contains the custom charging case, an acrylic display brick, a leather storage case, a USB-C cable, several eartip sizes, a user manual, a tips card and after-service papers.
Pairing
The widest codec choice is on Android phones with LDAC, which carry high-resolution streams, while sources without LDAC fall back to AAC or SBC. Phones and computers that support LE Audio can use LC3 for lower latency during games and video. Settings for the ambient mode and other functions are handled in the MOONDROP Link app.
Alternatives
The Moondrop Block is a lower-cost true wireless model with a single 13 mm dynamic driver, Bluetooth 5.4 and the SBC and AAC codecs.
