The Denon AVC-A10H is a 13.4-channel AV receiver with HEOS built in, part of the Denon A-Series line. It is designed and manufactured at the Shirakawa factory in Japan and was tuned there by the Denon Sound Master.

Engineering and use context

Each amplifier channel sits on its own circuit board to reduce crosstalk and distortion in a monolithic layout. Nine two-channel DACs convert all 17 channels. A rigid three-layer chassis and gold-plated speaker terminals are used to resist vibration and interference. Every HDMI port passes 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 120 Hz, supports HDCP 2.3 and allows upscaling of 4K content to 8K. Dolby Surround and the Auro-Matic engine upmix legacy material, and Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization creates an overhead effect without ceiling speakers. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 calibration is built in, with the MultEQ editor app and MultEQ-X software available for a fee. A front USB port reads files up to 24-bit and 192 kHz in MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, FLAC and ALAC, and AirPlay 2 with Siri control joins HEOS for streaming. The supplied handset is the RC-1261. ECO standby consumption is quoted at 70 W or 125 W depending on mode, and the receiver also handles DTS Virtual X for height effects without height speakers.

Pairing

Besides HDMI, the rear panel carries seven analogue inputs, an MM phono stage, and a pair each of optical and coaxial digital connections. The pre-outputs let owners hand selected channels to external power amplifiers, and HEOS lets the receiver share content with Denon Home speakers in other rooms.
