The AVC-X2850H is a Denon 7.2-channel AV amplifier with HEOS streaming, placed between the AVC-X2800H DAB, which it succeeds, and the AVC-X3800H. Its European launch price was EUR 839, and it comes only in black. Object-based formats include Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, with Dolby Surround and DTS Neural X available as upmixers, and MPEG-4 AAC is also decoded.

Engineering and use context

A new Pure CTS HDMI generator reduces clock jitter on the HDMI signal. The HDMI 2.1 inputs carry 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz, together with Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode and Quick Frame Transport, and 4K upscaling is provided. HDR10+, Dolby Vision and Dynamic HDR are passed through. Files streamed over the network may be ALAC, FLAC and WAV at up to 24-bit/192 kHz as well as DSD at 2.8 and 5.6 MHz, and 360 Reality Audio is supported. Streaming covers Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music and Qobuz, including Qobuz Connect, plus AirPlay 2 and Amazon Alexa. The Bluetooth transmitter has its own volume control, so headphones can be adjusted separately. Dual Zone, Dual Source operation lets a second area play a different input, and a channel level monitor shows the output of each channel on the TV screen in real time. An MM phono input is fitted for a turntable, and the unit is operated with the RC-1253 remote, a single-line front display and an on-screen menu in nine languages.

Pairing

The dual subwoofer pre-outs accept two powered subwoofers. HEOS Built-in allows the unit to join a multi-room group with other HEOS components and Denon Home wireless speakers.
