The MODEL 10 is the Reference integrated amplifier from Marantz, built on a new Marantz-engineered amplifier platform with Purifi technology, arranged as a fully balanced dual-mono symmetrical topology, with phono and headphone stages on board. Buyers choose a Black or Marantz Champagne panel.
Key specs that matter
Rated output is 250 W per channel into 8 ohm and 500 W per channel into 4 ohm, both across 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 0.05% THD, and speakers from 4 to 16 ohm are supported. Frequency response is 5 Hz to 60 kHz at -3 dB and 20 Hz to 20 kHz within 0.3 dB. Total harmonic distortion is 0.005% at 125 W into 8 ohm, and the damping factor is 500. Line inputs need 350 mV at 47 kohm unbalanced or 700 mV at 36 kohm balanced, with 42 dB of gain. In power amp mode the unbalanced input takes 1.58 V at 47 kohm with 29 dB gain and the balanced input 3.16 V at 15 kohm with 23 dB gain. S/N reaches 122 dB on line and balanced inputs, 88 dB on MM and 76 dB on MC. The case measures 440 mm across, 192 mm tall and 473 mm deep, weighs 33.7 kg, drawing 270 W or 0.1 W in standby.
Engineering and use context
Independent switch-mode supplies for the two channels drive a switch-mode BTL output stage, and a toroidal transformer in a shielded case serves only the preamplifier. The preamp uses new HDAM High Grade modules with an electronic variable-gain volume, and the headphone circuit combines HDAM-SA2 with a diamond buffer, rated at 130 mW into 32 ohm. The phono equaliser accepts MM cartridges at 3.6 mV and 39 kohm, and MC types at 400 microvolts with 33, 100 or 390 ohm loading, holding RIAA accuracy within 0.5 dB. Bass and treble adjust by 10 dB at 50 Hz and 15 kHz. A copper-plated triple-layer chassis separates high-power from low-power circuits, under a 6 mm aluminium top with a stainless mesh centre and dimmable interior lighting. The front carries an HD TFT colour display with level meters and 20 dimmer steps.
Pairing
Connections comprise four RCA inputs including phono, two XLR inputs, a recorder output, a power amp direct input and pre outs on RCA and XLR. Two sets of SPKT-100+ speaker terminals support bi-wiring, a rear switch selects stereo or bi-amp, and a mono mode is available. RC-5 bus terminals, a flasher input and the F.C.B.S. link cover system control.
Alternatives
A smaller integrated in the Marantz range is the MODEL 40n, a lower-powered model with HEOS streaming and HDMI ARC.
