The Model 70 is a Marantz stereo integrated amplifier, introduced on 15 July 2026 together with the CD 70 player as the next step for the brand's entry hi-fi offering after the PM6007. Launch prices were EUR 850 and GBP 749, and Marantz did not plan to sell it in North America. It comes in Black or Silver-Gold, and Marantz says it is made with environmentally conscious materials and ships in FSC-certified packaging chosen to reduce plastic.

Key specs that matter

Marantz rates the amplifier at 50 W per channel RMS into 8 ohm and 65 W into 4 ohm, from a current-feedback Class A/B topology. Frequency response extends from 5 Hz to 50 kHz, THD is 0.08%, the damping factor is 100 and the high-level S/N figure is 110 dB. Bass adjusts by 10 dB at 50 Hz and treble by 10 dB at 15 kHz, alongside a balance control. The case is 442 mm wide, 375 mm deep and 109 mm high and weighs 7.9 kg. Consumption is 150 W in operation and 0.3 W in standby.

Engineering and use context

Marantz lists an upgraded power supply built around a larger toroidal transformer than before. Heat from the output devices is carried away by extruded aluminium heat sinks. Digital sources pass through an ES Sabre DAC, and Marantz uses its own HDAM circuitry throughout the signal path. Level is set by a linear volume control, and a Source Direct mode is provided. For private listening there is a fully discrete headphone amplifier with HDAM modules, adjustable gain, automatic headphone detection and its own volume control. Incoming Bluetooth streams can use the aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, AAC or SBC codec, and the amplifier can also send audio out to Bluetooth headphones with volume control. Status and settings appear on a low-noise OLED display. The front uses the full-width Marantz industrial design shared with the CD 70.

Pairing

A built-in MM phono stage takes a turntable directly, provided its cartridge is of the moving-magnet type. HDMI ARC takes sound from a TV, and optical and coaxial inputs cover other digital sources beside the analogue line inputs. A pre-out can drive an external stereo power amp, and a dedicated subwoofer connection carries low frequencies to a powered subwoofer. The CD 70 was launched as its partner, sharing the same DAC architecture and HDAM circuitry.
