British brand QUAD has announced the revival of its legendary QUAD 33 preamplifier and QUAD 303 power amplifier, originally made in 1967. These classic amps have been reimagined, offering a modern take on design.
The QUAD 33 preamplifier retains its compact size and unique appearance, with updated features to suit today’s audio systems. The new preamp now includes bass, tilt and balance controls, giving users the ability to fine-tune their sound. The tilt control simultaneously alters both ends of the frequency response graph, either cutting the bass and boosting the treble, or boosting the bass and cutting the treble, in 1dB steps. In effect, it tilts the graph around 700Hz, thereby adjusting the overall sonic balance to a warmer or cooler tone without changing the volume or adding colour to the sound.
The new QUAD 33 preamplifier features both single-ended RCA and balanced XLR analogue inputs. There is also a buid-in phonostahe, which works with both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges. The output switching also allows for unbalanced and balanced connections. The QUAD 33 also has a headphone amplifier.
The QUAD 303 stereo Class A/B power amplifier also uses proprietary “triples” output stages - an invention of QUAD founder Peter Walker, providing low distortion and high thermal stability. The new QUAD 303 power amplifier delivers up to 50 watts per channel when driving a 8 Ohm load and 70 Wt into a 4 Ohm load. The amplifier also supports bridged mode, which means it can deliver up to 140 Watts into an 8 Ohm load. Connection possibility - via both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR inputs.
The 2024 versions of the QUAD 33 preamplifier and QUAD 303 power amplifier will be available in mid-November 2024 at recommended retail prices of €1,499 or $1,599 each.

Audio-Technica has introduced the new TWS headphones Audio-Technica ATH-TWX9MK2. In compact cases weighing 5.5 g each, they managed to fit 5.8 mm proprietary Pure Motion drivers with a beryllium coating. As a result, the frequency response of the new product ranges from 10 to 40,000 Hz, and the sensitivity is 105 dB / mW.
The German company Bärbox has released new acoustic systems Bärbox B.01 – slender two-way floor-standing loudspeakers are designed in solid wood cases and operate in the frequency range from 38 to 20,000 Hz (at 87 dB sensitivity and 4 Ohm impedance). The downward-facing phase inverter port allows for maximum flexibility in the placement of the speakers in the listening room.
FiiO plans to release a new DAC with a headphone amplifier and a preamplifier FiiO K15. Detailed performance characteristics of the new product will be announced after the presentation at the CanJam exhibition in London - but it is already known that the model will go on sale in August 2025 for an affordable 599 euros. Of course, FiiO K15 supports Hi-Res up to PCM 32/768 and DSD512.
D&A (Digi & Aesth) has introduced a relatively inexpensive ($699) digital-to-analog converter with headphone amplifier D&A Alpha PRO. Alpha Pro was developed on the basis of the flagship ESS Technology ES9039MSPRO chip, it supports signals up to PCM 32/768, DSD512 and hardware decodes MQA.
Cyrus Audio has officially unveiled the Cyrus 40 PPA phono preamplifier – the model has been previously demonstrated at exhibitions and is now available for sale at a suggested retail price of €2,499 or $2,899.
