Audiovector rates the R 10 Arreté at 90 dB/W with an 8 ohm average impedance and a 5 ohm minimum, a benign load for its size. Each cabinet carries two AMT tweeters, a 6.5 inch carbon sandwich midrange, two lower midrange cones and eight 5 inch rear-mounted woofers with 12 mm of linear travel, split at 180 Hz, 450 Hz, 3,000 Hz and 20,000 Hz. A three-position damping dial on the back sets the bass alignment for a transistor amplifier, a high-power transistor amplifier or a valve amplifier, and with the M10 the high-power setting is the natural choice. The M10 delivers 2 x 300 W into 8 ohm, 2 x 550 W into 4 ohm and 2 x 900 W into 2 ohm, with twin 1,800 VA transformers and about 1 farad of capacitance in a separate supply chassis. ExactBias holds output stage bias steady with temperature, and global feedback is adjustable in 1 percent steps from 0 to 100 percent, so the damping on the amplifier side can be tuned alongside the dial on the speaker. Bi-wire terminals on the R 10 Arreté and two parallel speaker outputs per channel on the M10 make a bi-wired run straightforward.

How it sounds

With a 5 ohm floor and an amplifier rated into 2 ohm, the rear bass array is never short of current, so the low end stays even and controlled rather than heavy, and large-scale orchestral and electronic material keeps its weight without crowding the midrange. The separate lower midrange drivers help instruments hold distinct positions across the stage.
