American loudspeaker manufacturer Perlisten has unveiled the new S4b Black Edition, incorporating technologies originally developed for the flagship S7t Black Edition floorstanding speakers. The new model is a significantly upgraded version of the S4b bookshelf speaker, featuring refined drivers, a redesigned cabinet, and an improved system for controlling sound dispersion. In developing the S4b Black Edition, Perlisten's engineers aimed to preserve the acoustic advantages of the larger flagship model in a more compact format suitable for both stereo systems and home theaters.

The Perlisten S4b Black Edition features the company's proprietary Directivity Pattern Control (DPC) Array technology, designed to precisely control the dispersion of midrange and high frequencies. The array consists of three drivers mounted in a specially designed waveguide: a central 28 mm beryllium dome tweeter flanked by two 28 mm drivers featuring Textreme Thin Ply Carbon Diaphragm (TPCD) technology. The design draws on solutions developed for the flagship S7t Black Edition, where the aluminum waveguide also serves as a heatsink, dissipating heat generated by the drivers. Optimized thermal management helps reduce thermal compression and maintain consistent performance when playing music at high volume levels.

Another key area of improvement is the bass section. Perlisten's engineers have redesigned the woofer's magnetic system and voice coil to increase linear diaphragm excursion and reduce distortion. For comparison, the standard S4b features a 180 mm Textreme TPCD woofer in a three-way sealed enclosure. In the Black Edition, particular attention has also been paid to cabinet rigidity. The combination of aluminum and high-density fiberboard (HDF) is intended to effectively suppress cabinet resonances and unwanted vibrations. The manufacturer has not yet released the full technical specifications of the new model.

The Perlisten S4b Black Edition is aimed at demanding listeners who want high-end loudspeaker performance without the need for large floorstanding speakers. Thanks to its controlled dispersion characteristics and tonal consistency with other models in the S Series, the new speaker can be integrated into multichannel home theater systems or used in traditional two-channel stereo setups. The Perlisten S4b Black Edition is scheduled to go on sale in January 2027, with a suggested retail price of $15,000 per pair, including matching speaker stands.
