Luxman has introduced the new Luxman P-800u headphone amplifier, developed using technical solutions from flagship model, the P-100 Centennial. This new amp features a fully analog signal path and four independent amplification channels, enabling a balanced Bridge-Tied Load (BTL) configuration. Luxman P-800u is designed for use with high-quality wired headphones, including models with high impedance or those that demand significant output power from an amplifier.

At the heart of the Luxman P-800u is the latest iteration of the company’s proprietary amplification technology LIFES (Luxman Integrated Feedback Engine System) version 1.1.m that implemented across all four amplification channels, which share an identical configuration. When headphones are connected via the 4.4mm Pentaconn or 4-pin XLR balanced jacks, the amplifier operates in BTL mode. This configuration provides superior stereo channel separation and more precise soundstage localization. For headphones equipped with a 6.3mm (1/4") jack, there is a dedicated output that utilizes an unbalanced, parallel-configured amplification circuit. In this mode, two of the four amplification channels are combined to double the available output current.

In unbalanced mode, the continuous output power is 4W per channel into 8 ohms, 2W into 16 ohms, 1W into 32 ohms, and 53mW into 600 ohms. In balanced mode, the output power reaches 8W per channel into 16 ohms, 4W into 32 ohms, and 213mW into 600 ohms. The signal-to-noise ratios are 116 dB and 119 dB, respectively.

Volume control in the Luxman P-800u headphone amplifier is implemented using the proprietary LECUA system - an electronically controlled attenuator that ensures precise level matching between the left and right channels, even at low volumes.

Connectivity options for the Luxman P-800u include two sets of balanced XLR analog inputs and one pair of unbalanced RCA inputs. For connecting headphones, the unit provides three outputs - a 4.4 mm balanced Pentaconn jack, a 4-pin balanced XLR connector, and a standard 6.3 mm unbalanced jack. The rear panel also features an analog pass-through output, allowing the signal to be sent to an external preamplifier or integrated amplifier. Sales of the Luxman P-800u headphone amplifier are scheduled to begin in Japan in November 2026, the recommended retail price is approx. 3,500 euros.
