Floorstanding loudspeakers — Bryston MIDDLE T10

The Middle T10 is the second-largest tower of the Bryston T10 range, a three-way design placed below the Model T10. The range name refers to ten years of the Model T line, and Bryston describes its floorstanders as partial line arrays, with pairs of tweeters and midranges and several woofers arranged vertically. It is made in Dwight, Ontario.

Key specs that matter

Two 1-inch titanium tweeters, two 5.25-inch midrange drivers and four HP 6.5-inch woofers are used, with crossover points at 250 Hz and 2 kHz. Frequency response is 28 Hz to 20 kHz within ±3 dB, and impedance is 4 ohms. Sensitivity is 92 dB in room and 88 dB anechoic. The recommended amplifier range is 50 to 1,000 W. The cabinet is 1,700 mm high and weighs 46 kg.

Engineering and use context

The Middle T10 doubles the tweeter and midrange of the smaller Trim T10 and uses four woofers instead of two, which doubles the woofer cone area, extends the bass lower and raises the upper power limit. Sensitivity is also 1 dB higher than that of the Trim T10. All T10 speakers share the same crossover points and the same tweeter type, so they combine well in home cinema systems. The cabinet is ported with Bryston's Reflex Vortex fluted port, and the front baffle, braced from inside, is up to 38 mm thick. Four plug-in modules come with each speaker, configuring it for one, two or three amplifier channels or for fully active use, and the active version uses the BAX-1 DSP crossover to drive each driver group from its own amplifier channel. Veneer options follow the rest of the range, and the 20-year warranty applies. It is 8 kg heavier and 180 mm taller than the Trim T10, and 15 kg lighter than the Model T10.
