The Bellagio Conquest is a free-standing belt-drive turntable from Gold Note of Florence, Italy, built as a complete floor-standing unit. The maker calls it the only turntable designed with thirteen curved plinths, a layered construction meant to reach maximum rigidity and structural stability. Finishes are black polished acrylic or gold leaf, and Gold Note supplies a 550 mm rocker arm with an elliptical counterweight.

Key specs that matter

Rotation is set to 33 1/3 or 45 rpm with a speed accuracy of plus or minus 0.1 %. Speed changes are electronic and fully controllable by remote, and fine pitch control is included. The platter is made of Sustarin and stands 110 mm high. Wow and flutter is 0.05 % and rumble is -85 dB. The unit measures 530 mm wide, 1,250 mm high and 500 mm deep, and it weighs 100 kg. Its external power supply accepts 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz and consumes 20 W.

Engineering and use context

A 12 V high-torque synchronous motor, powered externally, turns the platter through a rectified black EPDM Deluxe belt with 70 shore elasticity, running on an hourglass-shaped pulley. Motor control uses PWM technology with a triple AC-DC-AC conversion stage intended to cancel vibrations at the motor. The spindle is 270 mm long, which Gold Note describes as the longest platter spindle made for a turntable. It is machined from C40 carbon steel, hardened in boiling oil, then rectified and polished, and runs in a polished bronze housing with a total tolerance of less than 1/100 of a millimetre on a 4.7 mm ceramic ball. The plinth structure divides into a suspended section of triple polished acrylic or gold leaf and a main section of five double layers pairing titanium with either black acrylic or gold leaf.

Pairing

The long rocker arm places the arm pivot far from the spindle, reducing tracking angle error across the record. Buyers choose a cartridge to suit this arm and a phono stage matched to that cartridge's output. Because the whole unit stands on the floor, no equipment rack or wall shelf is required, and the electronic speed selection by remote removes any need to shift the belt manually when switching between 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records, though the floor must carry its full weight on a small footprint.

Alternatives

Below it in the range sits the Gold Note Bellagio Reference, a lighter deck of about 32 kg with a 90 mm ultra-dampened POM platter.
