The SCS70 Pro is a free-standing 12 inch active subwoofer from the professional range of ATC, which hand-builds its products in England at Aston Down, Gloucestershire. ATC designed it to partner its active studio monitors, and the company names stereo, multichannel surround and Dolby Atmos formats as intended applications. An in-wall variant, the SCS70iW Pro, shares the acoustic and electronic specification but moves the amplifier into a separate 7U rack unit.

The bass unit is ATC's hand-built high-excursion SS75-314SC driver of 12 inches (300 mm), rated at 8 ohm. At an 80 Hz low-pass setting, the low-frequency cut-off is 22 Hz at minus 6 dB in half space. The low-pass filter offers four settings - 50, 65, 80 and 320 Hz - each a fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley slope. Output power is 300 W into 8 ohm. The amplifier is a discrete grounded source MOSFET design working in class A-B and cooled by convection, so no fan is fitted. A gain switch offers 0, plus 6 and plus 10 dB, and the level control trims from 0 to minus 11 dB in 1 dB steps, giving 21 dB of total range. Phase can be adjusted from 0 to 180 degrees, and a separate switch reverses polarity relative to the input. Two female XLR inputs accept a stereo balanced feed, and two male XLR outputs pass the signal on unfiltered to the main monitors. A 6.35 mm jack allows remote muting from a latching footswitch, which is sold separately. Power draw is 8 W (14 VA) at idle, 170 W (230 VA) at one-eighth power and 500 W (600 VA) at full output. The in-wall SCS70iW Pro cabinet is 450 mm deep and weighs 32.5 kg, while its R1-300 rack amplifier weighs 12 kg. The subwoofer is covered by a 6-year warranty.

Balanced connections suit studio interfaces, monitor controllers and preamplifiers with XLR outputs. Because the link outputs are unprocessed, a pair of full-range ATC active monitors can stay connected in parallel while the SCS70 Pro adds the low end below the chosen filter point.
