The SCS120 Pro is a 15-inch active subwoofer from the professional division of ATC, launched in November 2025 together with the in-wall SCS120iW Pro. It is built in England to support ATC active monitors in stereo, multichannel and object-based formats such as Dolby Atmos, and its dynamic range is aimed at critical monitoring in larger rooms alongside mid-field and main monitors. The UK recommended price at launch was GBP 4,575 plus VAT.
Key specs that matter
The drive unit is a single SS75-375SC rated at 8 ohm. ATC gives a cut-off of 20 Hz at -6 dB in half space, while the electronics extend from under 2 Hz at -3 dB to 320 Hz at -6 dB. The amplifier supplies 300 W into 8 ohm with THD+N below 0.003%, or -90 dB, at 100 Hz. Maximum level is 113 dB continuous and 119 dB peak, measured at 1 m with IEC weighted pink noise, and sensitivity is 85 dBC for -17 dBu. The cabinet is 638 x 498 x 568 mm, with the heatsink projecting 40 mm at the rear, and it weighs 44.5 kg.
Engineering and use context
ATC developed and makes the 15-inch sub-bass driver itself, hand-building it with a carbon-paper composite cone and a short coil working in a long magnetic gap. Rather than relying on electronic equalisation to reach the lowest octave, the company used this transducer and a marginally larger cabinet volume. The enclosure is sealed, following the infinite baffle principle, which ATC chose for low extension and driver control. ATC hand-builds the Class A-B amplifier around grounded source MOSFET devices, and it relies on convection for cooling. Filtering is analogue, with 4th order Linkwitz Riley low pass options at 50, 65 and 80 Hz plus a position at the upper limit of the electronics, the 80 Hz setting matching the usual industry crossover point. Front-end controls cover level, low pass frequency, phase, polarity and gain in steps of 0, +6 and +10 dB. The in-wall SCS120iW Pro sibling has a shallower cabinet for soffit mounting, uses a remote R1-300 Pro amplifier in a 7U 19-inch rack case, and cost GBP 5,408 plus VAT with that amplifier.
Pairing
Two balanced XLR inputs and stereo balanced link outputs let the SCS120 Pro sit between a monitor controller or audio interface and a pair of active monitors, passing the full-range signal onward. In multichannel rooms several units can be fed from the LFE and bass-managed outputs of a monitoring processor, and ATC backs each with a 6-year warranty.
Alternatives
The ATC C4 Sub Mk2 is a smaller sealed option, using a 314 mm driver in a 42 kg cabinet.
