Canadian maker Verity Audio built the Parsifal Anniversary tower speaker as an anniversary edition, launched in January 2015. It is a single-tower, three-way bass-reflex design made of two isolated yet attached cabinets, and its owner's manual was first released in September 2014.
Key specs that matter
The upper cabinet holds a 1-inch (25 mm) SD-2 soft neo dual-ring dome tweeter and a 5-inch (127 mm) doped polypropylene midrange with a 2-inch (50 mm) SD-1 underhung motor. The lower cabinet carries an 8-inch (203 mm) doped polypropylene woofer, also with a 2-inch SD-1 motor. Frequency response is 25 Hz to 50,000 Hz within 3 dB, and sensitivity is 91 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m. Nominal impedance is 8 ohm, with a 4 ohm minimum at 5.5 kHz, and Verity asks for at least 18 W into 8 ohm. Each speaker is 110.7 cm tall, 26.1 cm wide and 48.7 cm deep, and weighs 47.5 kg net or 60 kg in its packaging.
Engineering and use context
The woofer in the bottom enclosure loads a bass-reflex port that vents to the rear, so the front baffle carries only the tweeter and midrange above. Between the two enclosures sits a constrained-layer platform coupled with special elastomers, which keeps vibration from the woofer section away from the upper drivers. The bottom cabinet is coupled to the floor through the MASIS isolation system. Curved panels are used on all outer surfaces, giving the Anniversary a rounder shape than earlier Parsifal versions. Gold-plated terminals accept the speaker cables. Finish options are black and white gloss lacquer, with further colours made to order. Compared with the earlier Parsifal, the Anniversary replaced the floor spikes with isolation platforms and adopted a new cabinet system and a new driver integration topology. Devialet lists the Parsifal Anniversary among speakers with a SAM Ready profile, which lets its Expert Pro amplifiers apply a driver-specific bass processing profile for this model.
Pairing
With its fairly high sensitivity and modest minimum power demand, the Parsifal Anniversary works with medium-power valve amplifiers as well as solid-state units. The impedance minimum lies in the treble region, so a stable output stage into that load is still advisable, and Devialet Expert Pro owners can activate the matching SAM profile.
Alternatives
In the Verity lineup, the Florestan is a bigger three-way tower that pairs a 2-inch ribbon tweeter with an 11-inch woofer and 93 dB sensitivity.
