Lansche Audio's No.7.2, sold today as the No.7.2 MKII, is a large passive floorstander from the German maker and the second of four tower models in its P-Series, placed above the No.5.2 MKII and below the No.8.3. Its layout groups four cone drivers symmetrically around the CORONA plasma tweeter that Lansche develops in-house and also sells on its own as a separate module. Lansche positions it as a speaker built to make the character of a live performance tangible at home.

Key specs that matter

This is a 3-way bass reflex design. Twin 6 inch coated papyrus midrange cones and twin 11 inch aluminium woofers join the 0.3 inch plasma unit, with the crossover dividing the band at 250 Hz and 2.5 kHz. Frequency range is quoted as 23 Hz to 150 kHz at plus or minus 3 dB. Sensitivity reaches 92 dB for 1 W at 1 m, and the nominal load is 4 ohm with a minimum of 3.0 ohm. One speaker weighs 150 kg. Published external dimensions are 32 cm in width, 175 cm in height and 60 cm in depth. Lacquer options are white, black and a veneered version, each applied as a multi-layer piano finish, and the pair price stood at EUR 65,000 in 2026.

Engineering and use context

The drivers follow a D'Appolito arrangement, with the two midrange and two bass cones placed symmetrically around the plasma source, and this is the first model in the P-Series to double up on woofers. Lansche's aim with this geometry is reproduction without limits on range or scale. The tweeter itself has no voice coil, no magnet gap, no resonating membrane and no suspension. What moves the air is a cloud of ionised gas, which Lansche puts at one fifth of the area of a fixed membrane and about 100,000 times lighter. Because every point in that ion field is accelerated at the same moment by the changing electric field, the maker claims the unit has no self-generated resonance across its working band. Sold separately, the CORONA module is rated at 98 dB, 6.4 ohm nominal with a 5.6 ohm minimum, and a response from 1.5 kHz, in a housing of 16 by 16 by 30 cm that weighs 2 kg. In the No.7.2 it handles everything above the upper crossover, leaving the two papyrus cones the band down to the lower one.

Pairing

Its impedance dips lower than that of any other floorstander in the range, so the amplifier should be stable into difficult loads, though the efficient drivers need relatively little power.

Alternatives

For a lighter 8 ohm tower from the same line, the No.5.2 MKII uses a single 11 inch woofer and weighs 82 kg.
