The kO-R2 is a two-way horn floorstanding loudspeaker developed jointly by Klipsch and OJAS, the studio of artist and acoustic designer Devon Turnbull, and it is the second product of that partnership after the kO-R1 of 2024. It was unveiled at Milan Design Week in April 2026 ahead of a global launch in June 2026. Production is limited to 600 pairs worldwide, each built by hand in Hope, Arkansas, and the price is USD 11,995 per pair, with sales handled exclusively by OJAS. Two finishes are offered, Red Oak veneer or Hammertone Silver powder coat, both with a matte black horn.

Key specs that matter

A K-706 compression driver on the OJAS 1506 multisectoral horn covers the treble and midrange, and a 15 inch K-33-E woofer takes over below the 760 Hz crossover. Klipsch gives 39 Hz to 20 kHz within 3 dB and 29 Hz to 21 kHz at the 10 dB down points. Sensitivity is 97 dB at 2.83 V, and impedance is 8 ohm nominal with a 4.2 ohm minimum at 100 Hz. Power handling is 300 W, and maximum continuous output is 118 dB between 40 Hz and 10 kHz. Horizontal coverage is 90 degrees within 30 degrees from 500 Hz to 20 kHz, and vertical coverage 70 degrees within 20 degrees from 3 kHz to 20 kHz. The cabinet measures 64.5 cm wide, 115.6 cm high and 56.5 cm deep, and weighs 54.7 kg.

Engineering and use context

The kO-R1 used a 12 inch K-28-E woofer, so moving to the larger unit is the main change in the bass section of the second model. The multisectoral horn is cast in aluminium and finished in black powder coat, and its divided mouth shapes the dispersion pattern listed in the specifications. With the low crossover point, the horn carries almost the entire midrange, and the woofer works mostly in the bass region. The cabinet is built from 13-ply grade A Baltic birch plywood rather than MDF. On the rear, a five-step attenuator adjusts the high-frequency level without changes at the amplifier, and connections are made through anodised aluminium 5-way binding posts. Anti-vibration rubber feet support the cabinet on the floor.

Pairing

With its high sensitivity, the kO-R2 plays loud from little amplifier power, which opens the door to low-powered valve amplifiers and transistor amplifiers alike. The impedance minimum falls in the woofer range, so the amplifier needs to deliver current comfortably there. Given the deep cabinet and the large woofer, the speaker fits a large room better than a 20 m2 one.

Alternatives

The Klipsch Forte IV is a Heritage floorstanding speaker with a 12 inch K-281 woofer, a 15 inch KD-15 passive radiator and 99 dB sensitivity.
