The same cabinet can be mounted on a wall, built into a wall behind an acoustically transparent screen, or used as a floorstander, and the maker gives it a lifetime warranty.

Engineering and use context

The cabinet is ported and tuned to 38 Hz. Removable port bungs are supplied, and in an in-wall installation they effectively turn the speaker into a sealed box, while the quoted low-frequency extension applies with or without them. The mid and tweeter array can be rotated, so the cabinet works either upright or on its side. Monitor Audio includes isolation options for mounting, which the company says reduce unwanted vibration by up to 18 dB. The grilles attach magnetically.

Monitor Audio specifies amplification from 200 W RMS up to the peak rating and names its own IA750-2 and IA750-4 installation amplifiers as matching partners. For a home cinema the recommended high-pass crossover point is between 40 and 80 Hz, handing the lowest frequencies to a subwoofer such as the Cinergy Sub15. This low nominal load needs an amplifier channel rated for low impedances, and the high peak output suits screening rooms well beyond 20 m2.
