The Beolab 90 Zenith Edition closes the five-part Atelier series that Bang & Olufsen created for its 100th anniversary, released together with the Monarch Edition. Production is limited to ten pairs, and the UK price is GBP 410,000 per pair, with EUR 480,000 in Europe. Buyers receive a certificate of authenticity together with a miniature aluminium model of the speaker in the matching finish, supplied in a fitted aluminium case.

Key specs that matter

Driver and amplifier hardware match the regular Beolab 90, introduced in 2015, with 18 drivers in each cabinet. There are seven 1 inch tweeters, seven 4.5 inch midrange drivers, three 10 inch woofers and a 13 inch woofer facing forward. Amplification comes from 14 ICEpower modules and four additional class D units, 8,200 W in total for one speaker. Bang & Olufsen gives a range of under 12 Hz to over 43,000 Hz, a peak level of 126 dB SPL at 1 m and 118 dB SPL in the bass. Every unit measures 73.5 by 125.3 by 74.7 cm (width, height, depth) and weighs 137 kg.

Engineering and use context

The Zenith look is built from six panels, each covered with 289 anodised aluminium spheres in seven finishes modelled on pearls. The face mask is machined aluminium, pearl-blasted and anodised in dark grey, and a round mother-of-pearl inlay is set into the top lid. None of this changes the electronics or the driver layout. Beam Width Control remains available, so the output can be concentrated on one listening seat or spread out to cover a wider area for a group. With drivers pointing in several directions and all amplifiers inside, the speaker works as a self-contained active system that does not rely on external power amplifiers.

Pairing

A source or preamplifier connects directly, and no separate amplifier is needed. The heavy, tall cabinet means that transport and placement should be planned before delivery. Three Atelier pieces came before it - Titan in silver, Phantom in carbon fibre with black mesh, and Mirage in purple - and none of them change the acoustic design either, so the choice between the five is a matter of materials and availability. The standard Beolab 90 was listed at about USD 211,800 per pair in 2025.

Alternatives

The Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 Monarch Edition is the parallel release with rosewood lamellas and an ochre aluminium base, likewise made in ten pairs.
