Raidho Acoustics, which designs and assembles its loudspeakers in Denmark, offers the X1t as a compact two-way standmount in its X Series. Raidho bases it on its earlier super mini monitor, the X1, and presents the new version as an attempt to fit as much performance as possible into a very small cabinet at a relatively low price for the brand. Against the standard X1, better crossover components are fitted and the enclosure has been reworked internally, changing the airflow so that the reflex port delivers much higher bass output.
Key specs that matter
It combines the Raidho ribbon tweeter above a single 5.25 inch Ceramix cone driver, divided at 3.5 kHz. The rated range is 70 Hz to 50 kHz within 3 dB, sensitivity is 85 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, and the nominal load stays above 6 ohm. The power requirement is over 50 W. The cabinet measures 143 mm wide, 315 mm high and 230 mm deep, and each unit weighs 8 kg. It is lacquered in either piano black or piano white. For proper bass the maker recommends rooms of no more than 25 m2.
Engineering and use context
The letter t in the name stands for tantalum, a refractory metal known for strong resistance to heat and wear, with a melting point of 2,996 degrees Celsius. Adding it to the cone makes the membrane much stiffer and harder without adding weight, and Raidho states that this pushes the first breakup mode up to 15 kHz, well above the crossover point. The Ceramix process starts with a thin aluminium cone and uses a liquid plasma treatment at very high voltage to turn its surface layer into an aluminium oxide ceramic, so a softer aluminium core ends up enclosed by hard ceramic layers. The X Series motor uses neodymium magnets in a very open structure that ventilates and cools the titanium voice coil. Raidho's tweeter is a planar magnetic unit hand-built in Denmark, with conductive tracks on a foil only 11 microns thick and 20 milligrams in weight, about 50 times less mass than a conventional dome, while its breakup point is quoted at 82 kHz. The reflex port opens on the front panel.
Pairing
Raidho offers an optional single stand for it in white and black, matching the two cabinet finishes, and an amplifier that meets the power requirement completes the system.
Alternatives
The Raidho X1.6 is a larger two-way X Series monitor with a 6.5 inch Ceramix driver on a 20 mm cast aluminium front baffle, rated at 87 dB and weighing 11.5 kg.
