The X1.6 Reference is a two-way stand-mount speaker made by Raidho Acoustics, the Danish brand owned by Dantax Radio A/S, and an upgraded version of the existing X1.6. It made its public debut at HIGH END Vienna, held from 4 to 7 June 2026, with a recommended price of EUR 10,000 per pair. Raidho calls the changes a significant step forward rather than a small update - the crossover has been redesigned, internal wiring has been replaced and a passive radiator has been added to the rear of the cabinet.
Key specs that matter
Raidho fits its own planar magnetic ribbon tweeter, whose 11 micron foil weighs 20 mg, around fifty times less moving mass than a conventional dome, with its first breakup placed at 82 kHz. Below it works a 6.5 inch Ceramix bass and midrange driver with an aluminium and ceramic sandwich membrane, and the crossover point is 3.5 kHz. Published figures match those of the standard X1.6 - a range of 45 Hz to 50 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB, sensitivity of 87 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m, and a nominal impedance above 6 ohm. Each cabinet is 20 cm wide, 36 cm high and 26.5 cm deep and weighs 11.5 kg. Finishes are black or white piano lacquer.
Engineering and use context
Both drivers are made in-house at the Raidho factory in Denmark, and every pair is hand assembled there. The crossover is built by hand with Mundorf components, and the cabling inside the crossover and throughout the speaker uses Nordost Valhalla technology. The rear-mounted passive radiator is the main structural change - Raidho intends it to extend low frequency output and scale from a small enclosure, so the compact box can approach the bass capability of a small floorstander. The company notes that a passive radiator is very unusual in a compact loudspeaker. The front baffle is made of 20 mm cast aluminium. Raidho treats the cabinet, crossover and drivers as one integrated system rather than as separate parts sourced from outside suppliers.
Pairing
Raidho asks for at least 50 W of amplifier power and recommends 100 W or more into 8 ohm, a sensible margin for a moderately sensitive load. The terminals accept banana plugs and large spade connectors. A dedicated stand developed with sister brand Scansonic costs EUR 500 per pair and comes in black or white to match the cabinet finishes.
Alternatives
The Raidho X1.6 is the original version of this stand-mount, using a rear reflex port instead of the passive radiator.
