The TD1.2 is a two-way standmount monitor built by Raidho Acoustics, the Danish loudspeaker brand run by Dantax Radio A/S in Pandrup. The letters TD stand for Tantalum Diamond, the cone treatment used across the TD Series, and the 1.2 marks the second edition of the TD bookshelf model with one ribbon tweeter and one mid/bass driver. Raidho aims it at rooms under 30 m2. The pair was priced at EUR 20,400, with custom lacquer colours adding EUR 2,800 per pair.

Key specs that matter

Raidho rates the range at 45 Hz to 50 kHz within 3 dB, and sensitivity is 87 dB at 2.83 V and 1 m. Nominal impedance is 6 ohm and Raidho asks for 25 to 125 W of amplification. The crossover sits at 2.4 kHz and uses a stepped slope. Each cabinet measures 200 mm wide, 360 mm tall and 400 mm deep and weighs 13 kg. Finishes are piano black, walnut burl veneer or a custom colour.

Engineering and use context

The 6.5 inch mid/bass begins as a Ceramix cone, in which two aluminium oxide skins of 150 microns are bonded to an aluminium core of 100 microns. Sputter deposition then adds a tantalum layer, and particle bombardment grows a nano coat of synthetic diamond equal to 1.5 carats. The first breakup mode of this cone lies at 20 kHz, far above the crossover. It is driven by a titanium voice coil in an underhung N52 neodymium motor of 1.1 Tesla, designed and built in-house. The planar magnetic ribbon tweeter uses a foil 11 microns thick weighing 20 milligrams, a fiftieth of the moving mass Raidho quotes for a typical dome tweeter, and its breakup point is 82 kHz. It sits in a shallow waveguide and, like the other TD drivers, is assembled by hand in Denmark. The front baffle is solid aluminium for stiffness, the cabinet walls are curved to reduce standing waves, and the impulse-optimised bass reflex port on the rear has 45 degree vanes inside its mouth to cut air turbulence.

Pairing

Given its middling impedance and efficiency, it pairs well with a solid-state integrated or a mid-power tube amplifier within the stated power window. With its port venting to the rear, the TD1.2 wants a gap from the wall behind it. Raidho offers a matching stand in silver or black with a soft suspension and integrated decoupling feet, priced at EUR 2,500 per pair in silver and EUR 2,950 in gloss black.
