Klipsch designs the speaker in-house in Indianapolis, Indiana, production takes place in China, and passive models carry a 5-year warranty.

Klipsch fits a 1 inch (25 mm) aluminium Linear Travel Suspension unit with a Kapton suspension, loaded by a 90 x 90 degree Tractrix horn. Below it sits a 6.5 inch (16 cm) woofer with a spun-copper thermoformed crystalline polymer cone. Klipsch quotes 50 Hz to 21 kHz within plus or minus 3 dB, and sensitivity measured in-room is 93.5 dB, with an 8 ohm nominal impedance. Power handling is 85 W continuous and 340 W peak. Klipsch took several ideas from its Reference Premiere range for this generation, including the steeper cone angle of the woofer. The Tractrix horn was updated with larger outer dimensions, which the maker says extends directivity control across a broader frequency range, and it now runs edge to edge across the baffle. Bass loading comes from a single rear-firing Tractrix port. The enclosure is built from 20 mm MDF, and a redesigned bracing layout inside is intended to cut cabinet vibration. A textured black wood grain vinyl that resists scratches covers the exterior, fasteners are hidden, and low-profile grilles hold on with magnets. Amplifier cable attaches to one gold-plated terminal pair per cabinet, which rules out bi-wiring. The copper-coloured woofer and the black horn sit together on a narrow front panel.

Pairing

A sensitivity this high and a benign load let the R-60M reach useful levels with modest integrated amplifiers, AV receivers or low-power valve designs. Because the port vents from the back panel, leave a gap to the wall, and the cabinet depth calls for a deep shelf or a stand. Home cinema builds can add a Reference centre such as the R-30C.
