The Omnia is a one-box wireless stereo speaker system from Sonus faber, announced on 22 February 2022 at USD 1,999, GBP 1,599 or AUD 3,495. The Walnut version shipped in March 2022 and the Graphite version followed that summer. It is the Italian company's only single-cabinet all-in-one product, combining streaming, amplification and a phono input in an elliptical enclosure intended to sit below a television or on a sideboard.
Key specs that matter
The stereo four-way closed-box system uses seven drivers - two 19 mm silk dome tweeters with neodymium magnets and two 76 mm paper pulp midranges facing forward, two 44.5 mm cellulose pulp full-range drivers firing to the sides, and one 165 mm long-throw aluminium woofer firing downward. Total amplifier power is 490 W. Frequency response is 30 Hz to 25 kHz, and maximum output is 108 dB SPL at 1 m. Streaming options are Roon Ready, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, Chromecast and AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth supports aptX HD. Wired inputs are HDMI ARC for two-channel TV sound and an analogue input that works either as a line input or as a moving magnet phono stage. Power draw is 18 W typical, 3.5 W in standby and 0.5 W in deep sleep. The unit measures 130 mm high, 650 mm wide and 280 mm deep and weighs 5.6 kg.
Engineering and use context
Sonus faber's in-house Crescendo processing controls all seven drivers through DSP, including the side-firing full-range units that extend the stereo layout beyond the width of the cabinet. Placing the woofer so that it fires downward lets the long-throw woofer fit into the low cabinet. The closed enclosure has no port. The top panel is wood and carries the SENSO touch interface with illuminated controls. The body is covered in black fabric with aluminium accents, in either Walnut or Graphite. The built-in phono stage allows a moving magnet turntable to be connected without an external preamplifier, and HDMI ARC carries television sound over a single cable.
Pairing
A television connects by HDMI ARC, a record player with an MM cartridge through the analogue socket, and phones, tablets and computers stream over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Given its width, the Omnia fits in front of a small or medium television. No separate amplifier, streamer or speakers are needed.
Alternatives
The Sonus faber Duetto is an active wireless stereo pair launched in October 2023 at USD 3,999, with two separate lute-shaped cabinets.
