The Endurance Race TWS is a pair of true wireless sport earbuds from JBL's Endurance range, built for training outdoors and in the gym, with a sealed in-ear fit and a pocket charging case. The model dates from 2021, and the earbuds were sold in black, blue and white.
Key specs that matter
A 6 mm dynamic driver sits inside every bud. JBL lists a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, an impedance of 16 ohm and a sensitivity of 99 dB SPL at 1 kHz, with maximum output given as 93 dB SPL. A single earbud weighs 6.2 g, so the pair comes to 12.4 g, and the case adds 44.9 g. Each bud holds a 70 mAh lithium-ion cell at 3.85 V, and the case uses a 550 mAh cell at 3.7 V. Music playtime with Bluetooth on is at least 10 hours from the buds, and the case stores a further 20 hours for a combined 30. A full charge from empty takes under 2 hours, and 10 minutes of Speed Charge returns about one hour of playback. Charging runs over USB Type-C from a 5 V, 1 A supply.
Engineering and use context
The housings are certified to IP67, meaning they are fully dust tight and can survive immersion in water to a depth of 1 m. Fit relies on an ergonomic stabilising wing with JBL's Twistlock design, which turns into the ear to relieve pressure points and improve both seal and stability during movement. Three sizes of ear tips and two sizes of wing are included, packed with the case, a charging cable and the quick start and safety leaflets. Ambient Aware passes outside sound through so a runner can hear traffic, and TalkThru lowers the music for a short conversation without removing the buds. Stereo calls are handled by dual beamforming microphones with a sensitivity of -38 dBV/Pa at 1 kHz, and touch controls on the buds manage playback, calls and the voice assistant. Maximum operating temperature is 45 degrees C.
Pairing
The connection uses Bluetooth 5.2 with the A2DP 1.3, AVRCP 1.6 and HFP 1.7 profiles, transmitting in the 2.4 to 2.4835 GHz band at under 10 dBm with GFSK, pi/4 QPSK and 8DPSK modulation. The source can be a smartphone, tablet or laptop that streams over Bluetooth, since conversion and amplification happen inside the buds. The JBL Headphones app on the phone adjusts EQ, selects the voice assistant and changes other settings.
Alternatives
JBL's Endurance Peak 3 is another true wireless sport model in the same range, using 10 mm drivers, an IP68 rating and up to 50 hours of total playback.
