The JBL Live Pro 2 TWS is a set of true wireless noise cancelling earbuds from the Live range, dating from 2021. Its stick-closed shape uses what JBL calls Oval Tubes with oval silicone tips, aimed at a snug seal, and it pairs True Adaptive Noise Cancelling with Smart Ambient, six beamforming microphones and a Qi-compatible wireless charging case.
Key specs that matter
Every earbud houses an 11 mm dynamic driver. The published frequency range is 20 Hz to 20 kHz, impedance is 16 ohm, sensitivity is 105 dB SPL at 1 kHz and maximum SPL is 93 dB. With ANC off the buds play for up to 10 hours, dropping to 8 hours with standard ANC and 6 hours in True Adaptive mode, and a further 30 hours comes from the case for a total of 40. The buds weigh 4.8 g each and the case 48.4 g. Inside are 65 mAh 3.85 V lithium-ion cells in the earbuds and a 580 mAh 3.8 V cell in the case. Recharging takes 2 hours over USB-C from a 5 V 1 A source or 4 hours on a wireless pad.
Engineering and use context
Connectivity is Bluetooth 5.2 with A2DP V1.3, AVRCP V1.6 and HFP V1.7 profiles, operating between 2.4 and 2.4835 GHz at below 12 dBm EIRP. True Adaptive Noise Cancelling reacts to changing surroundings automatically, and Smart Ambient passes outside sound through when the listener needs to stay aware without taking the buds out. For calls, the six microphones use beamforming to cut wind and background noise, rated at -38 dBV/Pa at 1 kHz, and a feature called VoiceAware lets the user decide how much microphone signal of their own speech returns to the ears. A 15 minute Speed Charge restores about four hours of playback. IPX5 certification covers rain and sweat. The JBL Headphones app selects listening modes, sets ANC and ambient levels, remaps touch controls and edits the EQ curve, with voice prompts available in the user's own language. Hey Google works on Android, and Alexa requires Android 6.0 or newer. Operating temperature is limited to 45 degrees C.
Pairing
Multi-Point connection keeps two Bluetooth devices linked so input can move from, say, a tablet to a phone when a call arrives. Dual Connect and Sync lets either earbud work on its own in mono or both in stereo, with quick pairing on Android. Three sizes of ear tips are packed alongside the case and its USB-C charging lead.
Alternatives
The newer JBL Live Flex keeps the Live range stem format but uses an open-ear fit, 12 mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.3 and IP54 protection.
