The Endurance Peak 3 is a true wireless sports earbud from JBL, built around a Powerhook ear hook design and an IP68 rating against dust and water. It connects over Bluetooth 5.2 and is supported by the JBL Headphones app, where the wearer can change the earbud settings.

Key specs that matter

JBL gives each earpiece a 10 mm dynamic transducer. Rated bandwidth spans 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with an impedance of 16 ohm, a sensitivity of 102 dB SPL at 1 kHz and a maximum SPL of 93 dB. Music playback reaches up to 10 hours from the earbuds with Bluetooth active, and the case holds another 40 hours, for 50 hours in total. Talk time is 5.5 hours. A full charge from empty takes 2 hours, and a 10-minute speed charge gives up to an hour of play. Each earbud weighs 12.5 g, 25 g for the pair, and the charging case weighs 76 g.

Engineering and use context

The IP68 rating means the earbuds can stay 30 minutes at depths up to 1.5 m in salt or fresh water, so they can be rinsed after training. Fit comes from a bendable TwistLock ear hook attachment, and the earbuds switch themselves off when removed from the ears even if they are not put back in the case. Each earbud has two beamforming microphones, four in all, with a rated microphone sensitivity of minus 38 dBV/Pa at 1 kHz. Ambient Aware lets outside sound through without removing the earbuds, TalkThru makes short conversations easier, and VoiceAware controls the share of microphone input routed back to the ears. Batteries are lithium-ion polymer, 70 mAh at 3.85 V in each earbud and 950 mAh at 3.7 V in the case, and the case charges over USB Type-C at 5 V and 1 A. An earbud measures 51.92 x 40.65 x 29.34 mm, and the case is 90.93 x 57.94 x 35.57 mm. The rated maximum operating temperature is 45 degrees C. In the box are the earbuds and their case, a Type-C charging lead, the ear hook attachment, a choice of three ear tip sizes, a quick start guide, a safety sheet and warranty papers.

Pairing

Bluetooth profiles are A2DP 1.3, AVRCP 1.6 and HFP 1.7, which covers music streaming, remote playback control and hands-free calls with phones, tablets and computers. The radio works in the 2.400 to 2.4835 GHz band at under 14 dBm, with GFSK, pi/4 QPSK and 8DPSK modulation.
