The Denon Home 400 is the middle model of the wireless speaker trio that Denon put on sale on 24 March 2026 to replace the Home 150, 250 and 350 generation of 2020. Its launch prices were USD 599, GBP 449, EUR 499 and AUD 999. The cabinet has a curved rectangular shape, is finished in Stone or Charcoal, and runs on the HEOS streaming platform shared with Denon receivers and amplifiers.

Key specs that matter

Six drivers are powered by six class D amplifiers, one per driver - two 19 mm tweeters, two 114 mm woofers and two 25 mm units aimed upward. Networking is Wi-Fi on the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands to 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, with Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 alongside. Wired sources connect through a 3.5 mm analogue input and a USB-C port, and the latter also reads storage or accepts an adapter for Ethernet. Dimensions are 300 x 150 x 219 mm, weight is 4.2 kg, and the mains supply is built in for 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz.

Engineering and use context

The two up-firing drivers add a height layer for Dolby Atmos Music, so Atmos tracks from Amazon Music and TIDAL get a vertical component from physical drivers rather than only from signal processing. Four listening controls in the app cover bass, treble, stereo width and the level of the height channels. Denon calls the pair of angled units built-in height speakers. Roon Ready certification is included, and high-resolution files and streams are supported. Physical controls on the top match the smaller Home 200 - volume, play and pause, three quick-select buttons and a microphone button that switches voice input on or off, with Siri available for spoken commands. Within HEOS a household can combine up to 64 devices in as many as 32 separate zones.

Pairing

A second Home 400 turns the pair into a stereo set with each cabinet playing one channel, and a powered HEOS subwoofer extends the bass when grouped with the speaker. For TV use, two units can serve as wireless rears behind a Denon Home Sound Bar 550. The analogue socket takes line-level players, and the USB-C Ethernet option gives a wired connection when the speaker sits far from the router. Grouping in the HEOS app lets it play the same stream as a Denon AV receiver in another room or a different one.

Alternatives

The Denon Home 600 is the bigger model of the same series, with eight drivers including two 165 mm woofers and a 451 x 251 x 226 mm cabinet weighing 8 kg.
