The Denon Home 150 NV is a compact mono wireless speaker running the HEOS streaming platform, and the letters NV stand for No Voice. It keeps the acoustic design of the original Home 150 but leaves out the built-in microphones and voice assistant support, which suits buyers who want network audio without a listening device in the room. Denon describes it as its most compact smart wireless speaker, lists it at USD 219 and sells it in two colours, black and white.
Key specs that matter
Two class D amplifiers drive a 25 mm tweeter and an 89 mm mid-bass unit. Playback covers FLAC, ALAC and WAV up to 192 kHz and 24 bit as well as DSD at 2.8 and 5.6 MHz. Wi-Fi runs on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands under 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, and the owner's manual lists Bluetooth 5.4 in power class 1 with SBC, the A2DP and AVRCP profiles and a range of about 30 m in line of sight. Physical inputs are an RJ-45 network socket, a USB port for mass storage and a 3.5 mm analogue input that accepts up to 2 V RMS. The cabinet measures 120 mm wide, 187 mm high and 120 mm deep and weighs 1.7 kg. Typical consumption is 20 W, network standby sits between 1.5 and 2.4 W and deep standby at 0.4 W.
Engineering and use context
Besides the HEOS app, the speaker accepts AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect and is Roon Ready, so it can be addressed from several control systems. The top panel carries volume buttons, a play and pause key that skips tracks with a double press and goes back with a triple press, and three Quick Select buttons that store a source such as an internet radio station for one-touch recall. Holding play for five seconds puts the unit into deep standby. Bass and treble can be adjusted in the app. The wraparound fabric resists water and stains, so the speaker can be placed in a kitchen or bathroom, and the operating range is 5 to 35 degrees Celsius. Denon still lists Siri support, which works through an Apple device rather than the speaker itself.
Pairing
Two units can be joined as a stereo pair, and within HEOS the speaker groups with Denon AV receivers, network amplifiers and other Home models for multiroom playback. It can also act as a wireless surround speaker for the Denon Home Sound Bar 550. The wired network socket gives a stable link where Wi-Fi coverage is weak, and the analogue socket accepts line-level sources such as a portable player or a TV output.
Alternatives
The Denon Home 150 is the otherwise identical original model that keeps the microphones and voice assistant functions.
