The Torus 5060 is the top version of the Torus range of solid-state stereo integrated amplifiers from Fezz Audio, a Polish brand whose products are made in the European Union. Next to line and phono sections it carries a digital converter with three digital inputs, a Bluetooth receiver, a tape loop and a headphone output, and it comes with an aluminium remote control.

Key specs that matter

The circuit is a dual mono Class AB design rated at 65 W into 8 ohms and 90 W into 4 ohms. Analogue connections cover three gold-plated RCA line inputs, one phono input and a pre-in RCA input that lets the unit act as a power amplifier. Outputs include a tape output and a subwoofer output. The digital side has a USB input and S/PDIF connections, each accepting up to 24-bit and 192 kHz. Frequency response reaches from 5 Hz to 100 kHz at minus 3 dB, and noise lies more than 100 dB below the signal. Maximum power draw is 200 W from a 230 V, 50 Hz supply, protected by a 3.15 A slow-blow fuse. The casing is 430 x 330 x 97 mm and the net weight is 7.5 kg. Colour choices are black and silver, and the US price was USD 2,995.

Engineering and use context

An audio-grade toroidal transformer from the Toroidy Low Noise Series feeds the circuit, sourced from the transformer company behind the brand. D/A conversion relies on the Wolfson WM8740 chip, supported by a built-in jitter reduction system. The wireless input uses a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver that the manual lists as compatible with MQA content from Tidal Masters. A dedicated headphone amplifier drives a 6.3 mm jack on the front. The Torus 5040 and Torus 5050 use the same amplification path, and of the three only the 5060 gets the digital converter, while its phono stage also appears in the 5050. With analogue, phono, digital and wireless sources handled in one chassis, the 5060 can replace a separate preamplifier, DAC and headphone amplifier in a compact system.

Pairing

Vinyl, computer and TV sources can all share this one box, using the phono, USB and S/PDIF sockets in turn. A powered subwoofer can take its signal from the dedicated output, and the pre-in socket allows an external preamplifier or AV processor to drive the power section.
