The NAD D 3045 is a compact HybridDigital DAC amplifier that combines a stereo power stage, a DAC, an MM phono section plus a dedicated headphone amplifier in one small box. NAD lists it at USD 999, and the chassis connects a television over HDMI ARC as well as wireless devices over Bluetooth.
Key specs that matter
Continuous power is 60 W per channel into both 4 and 8 ohm, rated from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 0.03 percent THD with both channels driven. Clipping power exceeds 80 W at 1 kHz into 4 ohm, and IHF dynamic power reaches 80 W into 8 ohm, 150 W into 4 ohm and 200 W into 2 ohm. Distortion falls below 0.005 percent at 1 W, peak output current is above 18 A and the damping factor is above 300 referenced to 8 ohm. Signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 98 dB A-weighted, channel separation is above 75 dB at 1 kHz and 70 dB at 10 kHz, and response holds within plus or minus 0.3 dB across the audio band. Line input impedance is 47 kohm with 220 pF, and from line input to preamp output THD stays under 0.003 percent at 2 V out, with a maximum preamp output above 4 V into an IHF load. The phono stage needs 1.35 mV for 500 mV out at full volume, follows the RIAA curve within plus or minus 0.3 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and keeps THD under 0.015 percent at 2 V out. The box measures 70 x 235 x 265 mm and weighs 3.6 kg.
Engineering and use context
Digital inputs cover HDMI ARC, optical, coaxial and asynchronous USB. Via S/PDIF the converter accepts up to 24 bit and 192 kHz, while a computer on the USB port can send up to 24 bit and 384 kHz. MQA and DSD playback are both supported, and Bluetooth uses the aptX HD codec. HDMI ARC lets a TV pass its audio to the amplifier and simplifies control of the whole setup. The headphone section is a separate circuit, delivering up to 8 V into a 32 ohm load with an output impedance of 2 ohm and THD under 0.003 percent at 120 mW. Standby draw is under 0.5 W.
Pairing
A preamp output makes it possible to add a separate power amp later, and a separate subwoofer output allows system expansion with a powered bass cabinet. Vinyl playback with an MM cartridge needs no outboard phono box, and a laptop on the USB port plays high-resolution files.
Alternatives
The NAD C 3050 is a bigger NAD integrated model rated at 100 W per channel into 8 ohm, built on the HybridDigital UcD platform with dual VU meters and a walnut-finished cabinet.
