The eternal audiophile question: which amplification topology is better, tube or solid-state? The short answer is simple. If your loudspeakers hold a stable impedance no lower than 6 ohms and a sensitivity above 90 dB, a tube amplifier is worth considering. If your speakers show impedance dips below 3 ohms, that approach will only harm the system. Like it or not, tube and solid-state designs differ first of all in their nonlinear distortion spectrum and their output impedance, and every other parameter turns out to be a derivative of those two figures.

The Cayin Jazz 100 integrated tube amplifier currently sells for under three thousand euros. Yes, really: for a tenth of what many rivals charge, you get a single-ended design built on 805A directly heated triodes, pure Class A operation and an impressive 2 x 46 W of output power. A bargain this generous naturally invites skepticism - so we spent enough time with the Cayin Jazz 100 to bring you a detailed review of the model. With all its strengths and weaknesses.

Tube amplifiers are becoming a cult again - their not-too-high power is offset by a warm sound, while a certain right kind of nonlinearity, with its emphasis on even harmonics, guarantees a magical delivery that is very pleasant to the ear. With the right choice of speakers, a tube amplifier with an output of 2 x 8 W easily runs rings around 200 W of digital amplification, and that is no joke, which is why the segment keeps growing year after year and new brands keep appearing. In our new expert ranking we have gathered seven of the most interesting modern tube amplifiers priced up to twenty thousand euros.

Line Magnetic has introduced a new single-ended integrated tube amplifier Line Magnetic LM-300IA, based on the iconic 300B triodes. The device is handcrafted and equipped with output transformers and a bias regulator with a precise built-in current meter.

American company Audio Research has announced the start of sales of the flagship Reference 330M monophonic tube power amplifier, which was first announced last year. Audio Research Reference 330M is an amplifier that combines a new design and new components with the best solutions implemented in other amplifiers of the company. The creation of the device took a long period of development and as a result, the device was released, capable of developing up to 330 Watts of power.

Polish company Taga Harmony presented the Taga Harmony TCD-70T CD player, the output stage of which is implemented on two 6N2 tubes. Together with the reference chip of the ESS Technology SABRE ES9018 converter and a large-sized power supply based on a 100 W toroidal transformer, the model promises luxurious sound quality.

Fezz Audio has introduced the Fezz Olympia Mono Power Amplifier and the Fezz Olympia Dual Mono Amplifier. The models are based on KT88 tubes and offer high output power.

The Japanese company Air Tight has presented the latest revision of its famous amplifier Air Tight ATM-1 (the first device was released in 1986, and in 2006 a more advanced version ATM-1s was released). The amplifier uses a push-pull circuit on 1/12AT7 (ECC81), 2/6CG7 (6FQ7) and 4/EL34 tubes.
